I may have found a pair of 24 stud Edmunds heads in supposedly good condition. I haven't seen them yet, but was wondering what a fair price to pay would be.
I saw a set of Edmunds 8BA heads at Fords @ Carlisle for $250. I was a little short on cash or I would have picked them up...

Does he want actual value or ebay value? On ebay I could see them going over 400, I couldn't see more than 250 or so at a swap meet face to face setting.
Very true. Any set of used flathead heads should be checked out for excessive milling. I've seen several pair at swap meets, with the vendor asking big money, that have domes so small that they must have had .100 shaved off of them. If they're thick enough, they can be redomed, but it all costs money if you don't have your own equipment. A friend of mine made a redoming tool to save milled heads with.
Just another warning. I pressure tested a set of those a couple of weeks back, and they had a crack from the spark plug holes, all the way under the Edmunds logo, and through a few other fins. It was a pretty severe crack that one of my friends tried to fix up for the guy, but still had a dozen pinholes even after he had finished up hours of tig'in them. They are very hard to see without pressure testing, but keep an eye out for them.
Be careful. I got some "good ones" that were absolutely trash. Two combustion chambers so pitted that the plug holes were half the depth they should be, two stripped plug holes, severe corrosion internally, even bad corrosion between some of the bolt holes on the gasket surface area. I got some $ back on the deal, used alum. heads are often just what I got, wall hangers. Mine would make good clocks, I guess.
