it has no matter what you start with. it will always depend on your talent and skill. I have seen guys **** up perfect bodys doing restoration and ****ups make perfect customs out of a cowl and 4 sheets of metal.

it is all going to depend on your skill and vision,
nothing else matters other then that..............

Niiiiice! yeah, i'm in PA and our weather just doesn't cooperate with the idea of an open air roadster of anykind!! I'm thinking of doing the extended cab pickup thing,...suits me better,....and our weather,..i'll get more driving time in it!

if you are going to make it look right take more then 7 steps back and look at what you have along with a pictue of a stock one to make sur your lines look right.

I'll tell ya though I'm so friggin torn because I'd like to just build a Roadster pickup,.....BUT OUR WEATHER SUKS HERE!!! You get just a few warm months out of the year and then BAM, God hits you with cold snow rain, etc.... Geesh!

    Oh well....

I know some one here has to know the name of the owner or builder of this rod.

  7. Well the only info I can give you is that I took those photo's at the GNRS in the suede room. I think I have seen it in Socal before.

The owner of that car I don't believe is on the HAMB, but his friend is. That car is in the LA area I think. The first picture posted of that black car/truck was posted by his friend.

    harrel-
I think the next question on people's mind is, can you take a roll of film to it and shoot away?? Inside, outside, etc.?? peronsally, I'm just wondering how he dealt with moving the rear clip forward and making it all work out. I'd like to see how it was done, etc. This way I won't go in one direction when i should be going in another when I undertake this on my own, ya know.

Well, heck, if its possible to shoot ome pics that would be cool, but its just a thought, I don't think anyone wants you to go out of your way or anything,...well, maybe they might..LOL:rolleyes: :D

I was originally inspired by Jimmy Smith's Dream Car of the Month, in the Febuary 2003 issue of R&C (pg. 24). The Posies Thunderoad project, was the first time I saw anything anywhere near as cool as Jimmy's concept built. The Posies high tech thing is not my speed, but I love the stance and overall proportions.

I've also gotta add that Jimmy S. is a first cl*** guy. I was so excited about his concept in R&C that I emailed him and told him so. Suffice it to say that his repsonse was very encouraging and he's the main reason I decided to build this rod, which is my first by the way. At 49, I ain't no kid, but you gotta start sometime.

Anyway, here's the CAD side views of my build. I've started with a '29 Tudor Sedan. Still working on the custom frame so I haven't sliced any sheet metal yet.

Check out how Elmo (my stunt double) has plenty of room, even with a 8 inch chop, because of the length inside the cab.

I say go for it! You just don't see a lot of these out there. I love to see different/cool stuff cool being built, whatever it is.

Oops...........Heres the rendering I did too...........

Couple things have changed. I'm using the 21 in. spokes and lakes pipes with turn outs, but it's pretty close.

Looks cool,...what is your vackground? what do you do for a living? I only ask because your computer layout skills look nice!

Also, if I may interject, I'd suggest doing something equally unique as far as what engine to run in it. Get an Olds Rocket 88 motor for yourself and an adapter ring for a ford ****** and ford rear,...THAT would be a nice addition! Unique, powerful, and flat out cool!

    Any pics of it?

My grandmother told me about here brother and fathers two trucks with flatbeds. I think from the way she was talking they may have started out as sedans.

Thanks for the CAD skills compliment. I design retail stores and fixturing. It's in more the realm of industrial designer (not flowers and foo-foo ****).

I do plan to run different power, but not what you might expect. I've bought a 289 and three spped ****** out of a '66 Mustang. It already looks awesome with the aluminum finned valve covers. I'll also run twin strombergs (through a 4-barrel intake converter) and lakes style headers, with turnouts.

I also plan to keep my Model A axle and convert it to open drive and modern Ford axles.

I recognise, that for my 1st build I need to stay pretty basic to match my engine mechanical skills. Who knows what I might run in the future.

    Later........D.

The one Jack has is a different one, built by Sibley.
I will try to go take some shots of it this week. I don't think it has even moved in a couple of months so it might be good to get it movin again.

    Harell,...thanks man,...very much appreciated!

I'm looking forward to seeing how he dealt with the Murray body, having so much wood in it, etc. Also how he dealt with the chopping and moving forward of the rear section,..how he dealt with the space left over from doing so in the rear wheel areas. Thanks again in advance!

I'll bump this up for the cause. I'm very interested as well. Some inside shots along with the outside shots would be cool too. I'm curious how the door pillars were handled.

  30. People have been doing these forever, I found one the place my A came from. I was going to nab the back tin, the body'd fallen apart, and it was pretty ragged on the left side. I found a door from it and it was arched across the top, I said to myself "ahh, this was a sedan once" ... I'd take pictures but between the body being in about 12 pieces and the trees you won't see much.
