Enloe, I just had to touch this photo up a bit. Wanted to give it the look
of just having picked it up from the local Walgreens.

In the 70s here where I am it would have been Revco or Eckerds drugstores:)

Unfortunately it was restored back to stock configuration with fuel injection. Then flipped to a classic car dealer in Michigan. The restoration was of poor quality. Although he showed the car extensively which is a major part of his flipping method, the car was a driver at best. I'm not finding pictures of the car as it is today.

Truth be told I read his assertions as to its history and I do not believe it was ever a real drag car. It may have made a few trips down the track but this seems to be what I gathered from it. I kind of believed he was fishing for some non-existent history. I seem to remember it was an alleged MSP car and I would have believed it more if it had a rollbar (and I realize not all did). I wish it did have some history as we need a few real deal drag cars out there. This car may be better suited in stock trim.

Again you may have a fair sense of things. The person making the history inquiries is an elderly person with interests in older Corvette race cars. He likes the chase but jumps to conclusions. He was doing it for the owner. The owner is someone I am familiar with but I keep my distance.

Great looking Vette! Love the stance. What's the dimension on rear tires?

Loveoftiki, that is the Red Baron 61 but the picture throws me a bit of a curve. There was another version of the car only was a 58-60 Model and ran Altered without a top, but still with the German Cross in the same location and with the 007 number over the rear wheels. Do you remember where you came up with the photo?

Also anyone familiar with the Red Baron as a competitor?

Enloe, that video brings back a few memories. I had a couple of my runs on there but nothing to write home about-still - a fun day. Wheel hop was kind of the order of the day but once you got going it was good fun.

I wasn't sure but I do like them:)

  25. Hurst wheels. They're the real thing, so 14 x 6.

The ones on the Vette don’t have a rally style trim ring , like a Hurst wheel. They had a chrome rim like a Cragar.

  27. Bowie, I see what you mean. Possibly Hurst without the ring attached? Now I have doubt for sure. The spoke and cap design looks close. Thanks!
