To me, this pretty much nails it on a fenderless "A".

@hotrodman303: me like. Halibrands/Halibrand style wheels work on everything from the 20s through to the mid 60s. I had Moose on the photoshop thread lower my car and change my stock wheels to the below, and I think I'm sold...

My definition of a Hot Rod , big and littles . Pizza cutter on the front bigger tire on the rear , doesn’t matter about the wheel as long as it is period correct . I will get some shouts about this but , I can not do a “so called hot rot “ with a 60 series tire with the tread pattern that belongs on an SUV on the front of a hot rod . I guess an age issue

The "wrong" stance or wheel selection can ruin an otherwise impeccable build. The right wheels and stance will make an ugly car look much better. Personally, I like a little rake and a wheel tire combo that fills the wheel well...

I discovered also what you do with something such as a simple stripe can bring a "giant" difference. This is the stripe I added at the belt line like most 30's have and IMO magic happened almost instantly.
Wheels and stance are certainly most important, but that's not all it takes some times.

Now narrower front Truespokes and tires are in the planning.

my old school thinking shines thru here. I can't seem to get past stamped steel wheels and small caps. I have the attitude that slots, mag look, and those silly wheels are made for race cars. In this thread I see some fab old cars with those wheels and it just jars my sense of a hot rod. I am a old stubborn bastard who won't change, dammit I am stuck with it.

  19. This was the first lesson my grandfather taught me when it came to hot rodding and customs, if you mess up on the wheels and stance, everything else is wasted money.

Still working on the stance, but not likely to run into another set of these wheels.
