Technical 1939 Ford Headlight Adjustment

How do you adjust the headlights, up/down/right/left, on a 1939 Ford? I have never had them apart and I am not sure. I took the outer ring off and didn't see any adjuster(s). Should I remove the lens or not? I have looked on this forum and others and cannot find a complete answer.

you have to pull the rings off and the lenses . there's screws with springs to adjust up-down left right. Its pretty simple. I have a 39 standard also like yours.
