I picked up a set of 40-48 flathead heads, they are aluminum and have the name Allard cast in them, look good.Anyone know any history on these?thanks!
How about some pics for those of us who have never seen them, or are too old to remember that we maybe have seen them some time in the distant past.
everyone has a set of Sharp heads, but a set of Allards would be ***s! great find. Allard was building obscence hotrods that would even make carroll shelby cringe and doing it 10 years earlier.
They also did 21 stud non-pump in heads for the 37 style block. Pity they're not too common as we've loads of 21 stud blocks here...
I believe that Allard cars had the flatheads and later Cadillacs installed in their shop in NYC. The cars came from England w/o engines, and probably w/o trans. Frank
And if you have ever seen an Allard J2 go around a corner you'ld know why. All the wheels seem to point in different directions at the same time! Kurt O.
can't imagine that there would be a lot of 'em floating around. Sydney seemed to like to go with what ever the most commo hottest motor was and stuff it in his cars. When flatty's were it (he used them), followed by 331's caddys and hemi's. If you get a chance go to a vintage race when someone is enthusuastically riding in a Allard, it is quite a site to see. I don't think you can actually drive an Allard. By 1959 when production ceased due to financial difficulties, only 1908 Allards had been built. total.
