In the spirit of the previous uber thread regarding '32 parts prices, I've been thinking about selling my original '32 shell & insert. Both need some work to make cherry, but both pieces all pretty straight would turn out really nice with a little work. I'm not looking for Ebay prices, but I am thinking about selling it & giving some change back to the Ryan/HAMB. What would be a fair price to ask? I know without picts. it's a tough call, but I would be able to get picts. when it's time to sell. Thanks in advance for your input.
I would say 600 to 700 bucks.. it all depends on the insert and condition also if the shell is filled
fair price is as much as you can get - top offer. You may find some guy who'll pay over a grand for them. Take it.
Friend of mine recently sold his collection of 30 grilles and shells. He had everything from NOS to OS and averaged 800.00. One guy bought them all.
"...here we go again..." Yeah...and there goes the market, flogged by lunatic millionnaires on Ebay! I don't sell '32 stuff; that's a job for my heirs when they pry my goodies out of my cold, stiff fingers, and I have most of what I want, so I don't give a damn... But, things are so crazy out there on '32 stuff, I think pricing anything is a mistake. Auction is the way to go, HAMB auction or Ebay...getting less than you expected is the least likely result.
Boys, I didn't want to start a **** storm about this. I've bought my parts right when things weren't as crazy as they are now post-Ebay. Just wanted to get a feel for a realistic price on these items and leave enough room to give Ryan a decent donation. That's it.
You're too dangerous...one morning, there'd be a COOKIE sitting on the kitchen counter...and above it, an ANVIL dangling from a diabolical mechanism and a tripwire...
Guys always slam ebay. But before ebay guys like myself couldn't hope to buy rare or hard to find parts as I live in the middle of the Canadian prairies, not a hotbed for speed goodies. I have been collecting my 46 convert pieces that way as well. Not a lot of 46 ragtops around here. Ebay has brought a lot of good parts out of storage in guys garages. It is a world auction site though and remember that you are not the only guy looking for a part. I am just glad to be able to get the parts I need. Pat.
Ditto! Ten years ago I had a 1937 Harley rear fender, today I have a roller in primer, Thanks to eBay! I never would have found the bits in that amount of time going to flea markets, hell, I didn't know what most of them were untill they poped up on one of the many eBay searches I'd set up. Also were else but eBay can you offload **** and make car money to spend on parts for 1932 Fords or whatever you're building?
Thank you Fordnutz, that was very well said. Anyway, for a decent one with the insert, needing some work, (p***enger car, not truck) I'd probably pay $500 for one, since I need one for my current roadster project. Depends on condition of course. About a year ago, someone listed a really super sweet one in the cl***ifieds for $500 and sold it right away. Useless says he got a cherry one for $600. So 5 bones is where I'm gonna price it at. If you wanna sell it for that, let me know, I'm interested.
Yes ebay can be evil but on the other hand it can a God send. A few months back after my dad got sick he decided to sell a couple old bikes he had. One was a 72 suzuki GT 185 We listed it with a reserve of $300 It ran up to $900. The second was just a neet old Honda 750 or so we thought. it turned out to be a hightly sought after Sand Cast CB 750. We listed it hoping it would cover the $700 reserve. It sold to a dude in Australia for well over $5000.
ill pay 600.00 sight unseen. ...........................well maybe a little sneak peek at it would be nice before hand.
My grille is unfilled & the insert is a little nicer. The shell is a little rougher than that. Still has original paint on the top 1/2.
