Hey all... Is there a good club in the Cincinnati area without a long waiting list? I've been looking since I got here last August and can't seem to hook up with one. Glenn
None that I know of, unless you like billet wheels, but if you're local, we should get something going. Maybe not a full-blown club, but a monthly or weekly 'wrench on cars' night. I know NOT ONE PERSON in the area into traditional stuff. PM me if you're interested...
This same topic recently came up about Dayton.... You might be able to do search and find, but basicly, there isn't a traditional club in the Cin-Day corridor that doesn't have mandatory lawn chair time or dues.... There were several HAMBERS that shown interest in starting something, but no one (myself included) has stepped up to try and organize anything. Andy
please let me know. I'm in indy not too far from Cincy. I still have family there and go back quite often. there's a gaint cruise in ****ord every Friday night at Krogers. thanks
The friday night cruise in ****ord is a good one. I dont know of any traditional clubs around here either just the BSM guys dont know much about them except they do have some nice cars. Chad VanHook
I'd love to get to Billetproof, but the ****** in my daily is about to take a ****, so I need to replace it Saturday if I can nurse it thru the week. I'll be at the Ohio social on Sunday for sure, even if I have to steal the wife's VW to get there. While I havn't hooked up with the BSM guys yet, what I'm hearing is that there is a need for a builders group down this way. Anyone else interested?
Hey Van, What I mean is a group...club...mob, whatever ya wanna call it of car builders. Guys WORKING on rides instead of polishing them. Glenn
I think I agree on that.... The car shows/cruise-ins are fun, to a degree. I think I'd have just as much fun (if not more) wrenchin'. Dues and monthly luncheons/dinners don't do much for me. Not big on fancy jackets either (although a decent T-shirt ain't bad). I'm located on the east side of greater Cincy, near Eastgate..... Mac VP PS: The 39 trans how-to book is nearly done!
a buddy of mine is in a little deal that meets on a curtain night .....and i guess they do some build work ......rob baker might know more on it....where ya at bake.....?? no club over here.....we just build and go .....there are a couple other clubs around......hilltoppers , fastiques, and of course the cincy street rod gang.....used to have the squires over in covington .....but since they sold their building ....not sure whats up with them ....heck why not start your own deal .....hit ****ord and ask around.......brandon across the river.....
Hey Mac, I lost your card. That Lincoln Welder I got at the Pumpkin Run still hasn't been used yet, but MAYBE this weekend.... Send my your numbers again! Glenn
The Road Devils are in Ohio But we are based out of Columbus... We got members in Columbus Cleveland and Dayton Check out the site at www.roaddevils.com
Seems like there is deffinately some interest in starting some sort of get together so where do we go from here? Come up with a time and a meeting place, someones home garage or shop? Whatcha guys think? Any ideas or opinons lets hear'em.
Well, a lot of us are going to the Ohio Social Sunday. I thought we might get a beginning there. After that, I can host the first gathering. I am not far from 275 and SR32, just across the expressway from Eastgate mall. Mac (Fortyfordguy) has also volenteered his shop as a meeting place. Maybe Mid June? Glenn
Glenn, I won't be back from vacation until the 12th. I could have it at our shop but it would have to be perhaps the 24th of June........ Mac VP
I cant make the social, sounds like it is going to be a good time. My garage door is always open to its a small place but everyone is always welcome. Glenn I know where your at, I work at the clermont county airport just down the road from ya. Chad
How does Thursday the 22nd of June sound for an initial get-together? I will be happy to host the first one. PM me your email address and I'll get you a map/directions. Glenn
Don't you guys go anywhere?? This weekend, GG Indy next weekend Hot Rod Reunion, Bowling Green after that... Road Rocket Rumble ( 6-24) I'll be in Minnesota that weekend for Back to The 50's I don't mind getting together with a bunch of wrench heads, but I like to get out of town and see other cars. I don't even get my cars out for stuff around here. Same ole' cars and people. Don't think this is a rant!! I like the idea... Take it from here boys..... S****s
As for me, right now I need to spend my weekends in the shop as I don't have anything presenntable, or even rolling, that I could drive. My ride is 1-2 years away yet. I've got a lot of catching up to do. Turning up for a show in a 96 VW Cabrio just ISN'T the same.
I've about given up on swap meet parts. Seriously, unless you have an early ford or a tri-five chevy, you're **** outta luck. I bet you could build 10 '57 Bel Airs with the parts from your average swap meet, though...
hey, depending on what type of club you are looking for there is a club i am about to join filled with new and old cars called Untaimed Toyz!!!!! NO STICKERED windows Plaques i am the the one with the 64 Galaxie 500 who met you in Lancaster!!
I'm still getting parts together for my 29 A . So I also feel a little funny driving to a club meeting in my van and I work nights which makes it hard to meet like minded car nuts,But the idea of looking at other's rides [if I see something for real I understand it better than just a picture] sounds cool. And maybe I could help somebody with wiring or welding or just some encouragement to continue .
You are the kind of guy I think we want to be about. There are lots of clubs for "finished ride" guys to go cruise with or show. A lot of clubs here won't even TALK to you till they see and APPROVE of your ride. To me a club is more helpful when you are BUILDING a ride, because there are more eyes looking for your parts, more hands to help with your work, and more encouragement to "get on with it". And since we don't have a ride to go cruise with, we have time to help each other. Glenn
