Yea, so work had kept me busy and off the HAMB, but servers are down today so I'm left to my "research".

Anyway, I came across this today and didn't know if it's been discussed here yet. I think it's not to bad lookin', but who knows what will come of it seeing as how all the "retro" cars are not doing too well.

  2. looks like a goofy austin mini- the short wheel base makes the back end look way to short

Another egg with big friggin wheels. A stretched Mini. Luckily I'll be long dead before it becomes a HAMBer's project. [IMG]

  4. Seen pictures of it.... don't like it that much. I actually liked that "Newmad" a lot more...

A goofy MoFo POS. And a lawnmower engine to boot!

Yea, the more I look at it, the worse it looks. I like the back end shot, though. The tailgate is decent.

Damn those are some ugly rims, look like some 80's Camaro rejects.

  8. I like it fine, but I think the previous proto-type was cooler. Apparently Chevy is just gonna keep making proto-types, though, since it's been YEARS since the "Newmad" and still no real-life car. It'll be too damn expensive anyway. [IMG]

    Ho-hum.

Melted gummy bear, but then the '54 Corvette wasn't much shaplier.

Could they have made the tail lights any bigger?
I'm reall getting bored with tail lights that are just an irregularly shaped section of the gummy bear shape cut out and replaced with a same shaped hunk of plastic. and the ones that add gummy bear blobs on top or the gummy bear hunk of red plastic are worse.
and clear lenses over chrome blobby housings with red blobs of lights behind are just ugly unless the car is white or silver.
That crease done the side looks just like a new T bird. Badge engineering with Ford?
Might as well be if it looks little different. [IMG]

I'd sorta like it and the Mini better if they had 13" or smaller wheels.

The huge wheels make them look like toys.

What an ugly piece of shit.

Another pothole on the "road to redemption".

If I could say one thing to GM's design team and advertisers, it would be "hey, lay off the CRACK!"

I saw it in person at the NAIAS in Detroit. It's not a bad looking little thing for a modern concept. It's purely a styling exercise based on Pontiac's new "Solstice" roadster (what the Fiero should've been). All of the divisions had some sort of concept based on that platform. Definitely some early Corvette influence there. It makes me wish that Chevrolet were building this new roadster in that vein.

That's exactly what they did when they built the Corvette. All the divisions built a car on the same platform.

I don't like it at all, in fact I think pretty much every new GM concept looks bad. It looks like a squished New Mini, not a Nomad.

  16. Damn!! it can't be Val??!! How the heck are you? I was wondering what happened to you....

kinda gay......i remember when they brought back the nova...totally pissed me off they had the balls to put that name on that POS!

  21. There tailgate treatment was clever, but that was about all that I liked about it as well. One thing for sure, at least this version made some sense calling it a Nomad. GM showed a Nomad concept maybe 2 or 3 years back that had no connection to a Nomad I would ever envision, it was pretty scary.
Sorry, I don't have any pics of that one, but some of you Michiganders may recall it. At least GM design is going in the right direction.

i like it. looks alot better than anything else comin out of Detroit. or where ever it is this stuff coems out of now. i'd be more excited if it was rear wheel drive and V8 powered but 250 horse aint too shaby.

I think the wheel base is too short looks like a squashed station wagon. interesting they went with a retro vette grille. wasn't the original prototype of the nomad build with the front half of a vette?

UGLY ...it'll just mean more yuppie I've got a custom car, too" idiots out there. I got to spend a few minutes looking at an SSR today. Also ugly as hell. Useless as a truck, panel fit was bad, overpriced, etc.

  27. I kinda like it. There's some changes needed though. Smaller wheels (I really just cannot get into anything bigger than 16" at the most)and lots more chrome. I actually like that brilliant blue used in the gauges. Kinda reminds me of Dad's stories of the late fifties kustoms.

As far as the yuppies drivin it. Yeah , it'll probably happen. But that's essentially what was going on with the big luxury cars in the 50's ....Granted not EXACTLY the same but similar. The suburbanites of the 50's bought up the luxury cars and many of us make them into beautiful leadsleds. [IMG]

I'm just glad to see some kind of actual creativity goin on in American automobile design again. Sort of sad they have to pull ideas from the past , but definitely better than a lot of the ideas that were coming from "Detroit" in recent years past. I think they need to just go with the same sort of expressive approach that was used in the late 50's and make NEW designs. Who knows maybe that'll come next. I hope so at least....AND USE MORE CHROME! for the love of God use more CHROOOOOOOOMEE [IMG]

Like it or not, they could probably sell em. Look at the PP Cruiser, see a shitload every day. A good exaple is, if you had a sign that was 4'X4' and it said this item .99 cents, 7 out of 10 would ask "How much is this?" The general public is clueless. If it was marketed right, you would have to be on a list to get one, remember the new beetle. And look how many people are buying the most hideious car on the planet next to the pacer, those ugly Honda box jeep thingies the odesey or whatever it's called. I personaly will not buy one, I've never made a car payment, I like to recycle [IMG]
