that's actually what my pile of parts cost , except I have a " vintage " motor that needs to be rebuild , a " vintage " trans t hat also needs to be rebuilt , and a whole bunch of tidbits that will nickle and dime me to death . I am thinking another $5000 and My bike will be a runner .

Man, I think they are some serious builders putting out some KILLER bikes in the states. Young Choppers, Choppers Inc., Steel City Choppers, Jason Jesse is the Fuckin Man, but for price I think my Bros at Flyrite have it down. I mean come on, a Kustom bike for 11 g's...you could barely piece the thing together for that. When I get ready to buy a bike that is already built Flyrite will get my money. Dig on the artwork I just finished for them.

Oh and I still dig Zero's style to.

I'm not sure what "fake hot rod influence" is, but I do know that Jason is a great guy, building nice, solid, affordable bikes. I think the average person would be hard pressed to build something half as nice for alot more cash.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure Jason's a great guy too, hell I love his 34. But this is the HAMB where everyone's favourite pastime is making fun of 1-800 rods, yet for a bike it's okay? Either there's a subtlety I don't get on why 1-800's on two wheels are cool, or Jason's a hell of a great guy with everybody brownnosing like that. Guy's gotta make a living' and I'm glad at least he's making it doing something he loves. On a personal note, after two years of unemployment it looks like I'm gonna get a job at the Volvo assembly plant, I wish I wasn't the nobody I am just so I could see people here saying how cool Volvos are.

They make fun of 1-800- rods here partly because you end up getting less car than money. " Man I go a 5,000 paint job" and most of those cars look exactly the same.

Where with us you get more bike for the money, basicly because if you went out and bought all these parts and put the bike together yourself you would spend more than 11,000.
Hell our prototype bike cost us about 15,000.
Mostly everyone here already knows we can build some crazy shit but not for 11,000 ( My time is worth alot more than that ). At that price if there was something you didn't like about the bike you could change it " customize " to fit your personal intrest.

It maybe just me but I like for play with my own toys give them my own flare and I'd rather send 11,000 and change it up than 30,000.

Now go play with your Volvo.

Shit I wished Flyrite was around in '93 when I built my chopper. Even tough that was only ten years ago it took me months to get a special spec frame from Paugcho. Parts were a lot harder to get, but you could still find knucklehead gas tanks at swap meets for $100 a pair or an Indian seat for $30.
I can't even tell you how much money I sank into my bike, I don't even want to think about it.

And even though I love the look of my shovelhead I'd much rather have an Evo. I think time has proven that the Evo is one tough long lasting engine.

Mike, now that I see Jason Jesse's bike a little better I can see the subtleties, it's cool as hell.
But it's still not as cool as his old Panheads.
If you see him tell him that a long time fan thanks him for years of inspiration, he's one of my heroes.

    Bring back David Snow!

  17. Nads - David in on the FUCK! board everyday. he is a great guy..

Tiki - that is some fucking cool art..

Outlaw - I will get tiki's art work tattooed on my back and do free publicity for ya for a bike!ha,ha [IMG]

yeah =mike= ditto what nads said that guy brought so much insperation to us trying to skate with style, and now his bikes our another influence...

I agree with Outlaw and think...you're not buying a 1-800 bike...it's more like you're buying a "foundation". 1-800 rods are very generic AND FINISHED. They look like every other ride in the magazine or at cruise night AND cost a small fortune. Conversely, you can pick up a FlyRite for a minimal amount of $$'s, drop a few more into it and have a very personalized ride...maybe not full custom, but more of a personal statement than a factory bike! Or you can pay them to make it more custom. Maybe the subtlety you're missing is the fact that the basic bike from F.R is the look most of us would be shooting for if we attempted to build it from scratch, ourselves.

I hear Volvos are great cars. I don't care for the way they look, but I hear they're built well. Good luck with the new job. I say this sincerely and hope you don't think I'm brown-nosing you. [IMG]

The way I see it, the really INCREDIBLE bikes are built my very talented people. Not everyone has those talents or abilities or we would all be ridin around in bitchen bikes. Companies like Flyrite make it possible for an average guy to get in the wind on a good lookin reliable American Made chopper. How the fuck can u not respect that? I really dig alot of the bikes that are being built right now like Chica and the Zero bikes posted. I personally don't have the know how or $$ to put a bike like that together. I really appreciate the bikes and would love to have one. To me, the next best thing would be a Flyrite bike because I could get my hands on something that has a good look and feel for a reasonable price and add some personal touches to it myself. Then ride the Fuck outta the thing. I am saving up!
Also, I am sure that the Flyrite crew can put together more wild bikes too, they are just going a differnt route with their product line. Appealing to a more blue collar crowd.

  20. Christian,
Here in America, where we like to carry guns and blow shit up for fun, (and have a president that condones this behavior), a guy has the opportunity to start his own business, work his ass off and make something of himself... sitting on your butt for two years waiting for a job to roll by isn't an option for guys like Jason, that alone says volumes about what he builds.

Likewise, the arm chair quarterbacking from a guy in another country who thinks he understands hot rods and what they are about, because he's read about it for a few years, capping on another HAMBers' business says volumes about you...
    Sam.

  22. Outlaw or Evil - These guys are right the $$ you guys want for a real cool bike is unheard of, you guys make it possible for blue collar guys to afford a real nice bike, just 1 question for you. In 10 years when I finally have the $$ will you still build me a bike for that price??? [IMG]

    Yea, I agree.

    Like when you posted:

"I pretty much hate the flyrite chop, fake "hotrod influence", too big a fender gap etc. looks like the 2-wheeled version of 1-800 "nostalgia" rod."

    Sam!

  24. hey christian,
you're from fucking Belgium. Are we talking about chocolates or french fries?

And speaking of 1-800, where do you get all your stuff from? The vast piles of old American tin found in Northern Europe?..... and dont even start with that Volvo bullshit, we are talking about Harleys and hotrods here!

The last time I was in Belgium, there wasn't enough of anything cool to be sick of. I think you guys should just take what you fucking get.

Next question Mr. fucking opinion, Have you ever built a hotrod? Even a 1-800 bolt together car?

  25. Hey Gooch,

I think he was talking about waffles. [IMG]

    Sam!

  26. Sorry guys I'd really like to get into it, but this is just too hilarious. No valid arguments so you pull the totally irrelevant nationality card, I didn't expect anything else really, but I never expected that some goon would fall for it and go "Yeah waddayouknow, you fucking Belgianite!"
I admit Sam, I was wrong, I never thought you had it in you to be a puppetmaster, I guess you do.
    Is it really that easy?
Hey Goochy Goo, Sam just sent me an email in wich he called you an idiot!

Okay, number one, Christian rules, even if he does talk funny, so...finish that however you'd like.

And B, Jason Jessee is one of the most mentally unstable people I know, with an equally insane off-the-cuff whit. He has the right vision, with appropriate taste, plus he's got balls the size of two Flyaway helmets, but not everything he's associated with is created by him. Like my Panhead, there are a number of people behind the scenes to be credited, such as Rico "FatherFury" Floprey, the MAN responsible for bringing the front end of that springer Evo up and over, sprawling his ass all over Chestnut street in LBC!

And as far as the other bikes shown, anything's cool these days that has the wherewithall to keep the rear tire "under" 180, has no gay THEME, and doesn't have exhaust running up "beneath" the seat pan!
