please redirect me if I asked this guestion in the wrong forum.

I have a a 216 in my 52 Chevy Deluxe and want to know if the motor mounts will line up and bolt up to a 235 without any issues? Thank you R. Bailon

  2. It depends on what year 235.
There are a few combinations of motor mounts.

Does a 52 Chevy front mount the engine or side?

Search is your friend. There are lots of "how to" for this exact swap

  4. Your 216 uses front mounts off a plate on the timing cover

Depending on years 235 went to side mounts witch is much better

You can either switch to side mounts

Or swap tour 216 front mount onto the 235

Lots and lots of info on this swap,
    Not hard either way.

I think I'm getting a little confused as to wether I actually have a 216 or 235 as I have side mounts 2 bolts on top valve cover , also the exhaust flange is at a 45 which I read is an indicator it's a 235. But the block code number indicated its to a 216 !

Check the Patrick's site, they have a brief article on the swap and which type of mounts to use.

  10. ...but don't try and buy anything from there!
If your side plate covers your spark plugs (so the plate starts just below the valve cover), you have a 216. If your side plate only covers the block, you have a 235. Early 235's had 2-bolt valve covers. And to confuse you more, early truck motors were 235ci, and had the tall side cover.

If you check the prefix on the engine serial number of the engine in your car against this list you should be able to tell what the engine in your rig is and maybe the one you are planning to use. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/models/engine.htm

Standard procedure for 50 years was to swap the 216 front plate to the 235 if the 235 didn't have the piece on the bottom to bolt it to the motor mount. That entails removing the vibration damper/pulley, removing the timing cover either pulling the cam out or removing the timing gear (from both engines) and swapping the front plate from the 216 to the 235 and installing a new metal timing gear in place of the fiber gear.

If the 235 is a 58/61 with side mounts you can fab or buy side mount kits to hook it up to either a Chev car or truck.
Several outfits sell side mount kits or if you can fab good you can look at the photos and build your own. These bolt to the three side bolts in a triangle on 58 and later blocks.
The following links are a couple of examples https://www.jimenezbroscustoms.net/product-page/235-motor-mounts

No photos but they look similar https://ch***isengineeringinc.com/product-tag/chevy/
