I like “caterpillar” ( as in bulldozer) yellow. Painted Jeep with brush then sprayed hood to hid brush marks. Great 10 foot job & cheap from hardware store. Touch up easy when chipped or brush scratched

Not much new to report. I have spent a good bit of time going over small spots that I have missed. Pinholes etc... I have sprayed the car with white sealer and due to the humidity and cool temps the paint is taking forever to harden. Seems the epoxy has softened up everything underneath it. I run the heat some but have not kept it on for days at a time. I did keep it on overnight when I painted it. It's hard enough to wet sand but on the sharp edges it's still very soft. Here's hoping I don't have to strip it and start over!

Well with all of this cold weather we have had i haven't gotten much done. Here lately it has warmed up some (at times) so I was able to spray the deck lid to see what my new color was going to look like. I went against my original plan and decided (with the "encouragement" of Tim and Ron) to paint it yellow again. However I went with a different shade than the original. I went with 66 Ford Springtime Yellow vs the old 76 Vette yellow. It hasn't grown on me yet but I think it eventually will. (still wish I had painted it flat black, less stress) :) I also worked on the dash a little. Not overly satisfied with that either. Very cool! I’d been wondering how this was coming along.

It might be more stress about nicks and dings but it’s so much easier to hose off and have it look half clean compared to primer always looking faded or chaulky with out a lot of effort.

Excited to see this come together

It looks like a good yellow to me. Flat black anywhere but the top of the hood just looks like laziness for a lot of reasons in my opinion.

I like it. I had a 65 Impala SS close to that color.

  7. Looks great Todd. That yellow says, that's the girl I'd marry! Flat black just says cheap date. Ask me how I know? Ron....

I like that yellow more than the original color you had, I think it is going to look great that color!

  9. I also like the new shade of yellow. Less “look at me” than before but still not the same as everyone else.

My screen shows two different yellows. One is creamy and one is banana. Which is more correct?

Well, just in case anyone was wondering if I had left town. (wish I had) I an experiencing quite the set back. Apparently one of the many paints I shot on this was either bad or reacted to the other. The paint underneath was not cured and was extreamly soft, So........ off it cam all the way back to zero. The good new? well now I can do it more correctly and do it with base clear. The bad news is, WTF color?

Shit happens and it did...part of walking the mile...a great time to utter or invent new cusses...that sucks...

You must have had a color in mind...that'll be the easy part...

Since I had the car striped down i fiured I'd take the opprotunity to readdress some door issues I had. The doors would open to about 50 degrees then get into a bind so I went back on both sides with a straight 5/16 rod and made all the hinges in line with one another. One door was pretty easy. The drivers door took some cutting on two hinges to get in line. Here's a couple shots from one.

Ha that's the problem. I have several in mind. Guess I'll have to throw a dart at a color chart!

If you're interested in opinions, I still think the yellow it always was is just right on it. Little cars with small areas of color need to be brightly painted. Save all the pretty blue or green metallics for the big cars with big panels. Plus the bold yellow will help other drivers see you and maybe they won't run over you.

No...... I really don't! LOL! I like the cream yellow but when I shot it on the deck lid it just didn't call out to me. But I still might do it cause it's different. You know how I am Timmy!! :)

Well, no I'm not dead (yet) I have been plugging away and did a little more metal work on the doors while I had them stripped down. I spent last week doing the doors over. It was 104 in my garage so I went back in, went to sleep and came back out at 9pm and stayed till 3am. I was out there last night from 5-11 and it was 99 when I started. I think i sweated off a few unwanted pounds, so i have that going for me! :) I am almost ready to paint! It will take me a day or two just to blow and wash all the dust out of the garage so I can.
