I'm redoing the interior on my '56 and ordered new shoulder harnesses from Juliano's because of their reputation. When I got my order there was a mistake and I had to return part of the order. When I got the return label, the belt didn't go back to Juliano's but to a company called Seatbelt Solutions. I went on their website and they charge $52 less for the exact same belt that I bought from Juliano's. So Juliano's bought the belts from Seatbelt Solutions and had them send them to me, a neat little $104 profit for Juliano's. Needless to say Juliano's will never see another dime from me.
Thanks for the info. I'm looking at getting seatbelts with shoulder. Do they show you how to attach the shoulder belt to the pillar?
I bought seats from an '02 Sebring convertible, they have built-in shoulder harnesses, tough to add to a hard-top. They are at the upholsterer's now so I don't know how they will look but I've read that they will fit. I'll post pictures when the interior is done.
I went to https://www.seatbeltsolutions.com/ and couldn't find any pricing. There was no prices in their catalog either. Did you have to call them?
We're all waiting to see what Joe's Sebring seats look like, now I guess we'll have to wait for stig's as well.
I'd be real surprised if consumers could buy that seat belt from seatbelt solutions for the same price Juliano's gets it for. Somebody along the line in your paperwork probably screwed up showing their wholesale cost. Their markup is not out of line with traditional retail markups, it's what we pay all the time, we're just not normally aware of it. The standard markup in retail is called "keystone", and it's 100%. the percentage a retailer actually uses/needs to keep his operation in the black can be lower than that or higher, usually dependent on how many times annually the stock is rolled over. A business course will teach you that the 100% markup is usually paired up with a product that will roll over 5 to 6 times a year. If Juliano's supplies retailers with products at wholesale, then they are obligated to maintain a full retail price on their retail side of the business, and the same would hold true for seatbelt solutions.
Something that you guys may have overlooked is in the "Sticky FAQ" these are videos about almost everything in a build, scroll down to find videos on seat belts. https://www.youtube.com/user/jlillyresto/videos
This is he best picture I have of the Sebring seat that I have used. Not a simple install. I did replace the factory belts with ones from Wesco.
DrDragon, here is what I did in my 55 with Juliano's seat belts... subscribe if you like. The link has photos and a write-up. https://www.hotrodreverend.com/single-post/2017/10/02/55-Ford-Fairlane-Restoration-Blog-Part-23 there is more stuff on there about finish work if you look at other posts..
Joe......I just don't think those seats look quite right in your 55. Next time I'm in OK, I'll stop by and get them out of your way for ya.
What did you do on your seat where the seat belt comes out of the seat, it's kind of ugly in it's stock configuration. Do you have a picture of that? This is not my seat, it's a google picture.
My seats came out of a 2008 ( I think ) Sebring and the belts did not stick up like those. I will see if I can find a picture to post. I also cut cut the backs down 3 1/2” and made a slight recess in the floor to allow for the electric motor clearance as the seat moves. I used the later seats because I prefer that look plus it was my understanding that the earlier seats required a trigger from the ecu to release the belt for extraction. Not real clear on that because once I found the seats I have I stopped studying.
Wow, those are much nicer than the ones I bought. I'm having mine redone and they should look similar to the ones you got, I won't know for sure until I get them back.
