Chuck,We got tossed in division 2 and they used masking tape, magic marker and a Lufkin ruler and we were out of there.. It was on overlap and I seem to remember it was two degrees. The bad part was they wouldn't let us change the cam and race the next day.The answer to that was see you next race.

We have a lot of similar memories! The width of a Magic Marker tip can equal more than two degrees around the circumference of a 6" balancer, right? How did you handle it if the tape tore while they were taking it off and sticking it to your fender?

Another of my favorites was the day the techie completely screwed up the process of checking valve spring installed height and measuring installed pressure. I watched him without saying anything while he fumbled the spring, dropped the damper, finally got the spring on the tester, pulled the handle and came up with at least forty pounds short of what I'd measured at home the day before. He straightened up, looked at it again over the top of his dime store readers, turned to me and said, "That's too close for comfort. I'll let it go this time but don't bring it back that way again!" I swallowed hard and said, "Yessir!"

Hi I think i read on or another site that they would use 59 front spindels on tri 5s to help with bump steer with ball joint spacers if this is true that is the difference Thanks

Pretty sure that is what the Gunnings said they had on their wagon.

Hey Tim you know you're giving away our secret don't ya'. HA HA. Some guys used the '59 spindles to gain about 1" more lift but the bottom ball joint didn't fit properly so some modification to the lower "A" arm was required. I didn't want to do that so we cut and welded the '59 upper to the '57 lower. That way both ball joints fit properly and you could still use the '57 wheel bearings. At that time ball joint spacers weren't legal. Shortly after we did all that work ball joint spacers were allowed. All that work to gain 1" more lift that probably meant nothing but back then you had to try anything you thought would help.

Great to see this not done up as a gasser, vintage or recent. I love the simple
paint job with the Cragar S/S'. Nice find on the photo.

Oh wow, Jamie Lee Curtis. Being a part-time plastic surgeon, I had to
perform a minor tummy tuck, she's welcome to sit on my fender.

AHHH her "accoutrements" aren't quite a large as Jamie's so you better utilize that excess belly skin to embiggen them

What happened to Colesy? I looked back through a bunch of pages and know this has been asked and answered before but I could not find it. The last I remember is about 6 or 7 years ago he struck out on his own and started a Jr. Stock website or some kind of Yahoo page and that didn't work out as I remember! Did he ever come back here?

The new site was going good AND THEN he started getting hassled over the sourcing of some of the photos he got disgusted with the whole thing and closed the site and hasn't posted since and it's a shame he had a lot of knowledge. :(

A total shame too! What people don't realize is (just like a lot of young ladies have learned over the years after "drinking" a bit too much) Once a pic is on the web it is all over the world FOREVER! That's how it is. People mad they didn't get "credit" for a photo they took eons ago. Sorry to say most didn't understand what would happen when they posted them 15=20 years ago.
