The calender of events says its not until next weekend JUN 13-17, 2006...I will be there on saturday. http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com/calendar/events.asp
details would be good, headed up to that part of the country to float around on the buffalo river,so that would make the trip better if I could pick up some much needed parts on the way there.
I stand corrected..... The local parts guy said was this weekend... From past years it is a fairly large showing.. 5 days... Petit Jean State Park is @ hour west of Conway Ar., about 35 minutes off of 40 at Morrilton exit. fairly large museum of autos there as well.
I'm there Friday and Saturday, spots H-26 and H-27 in the swap area. I'll have my '68 Polara wagon for sale along with a bunch of other junk. My friend Duncan Cox will probably be in the same spots starting Wed. with his '56 Nomad hanging out. Stop by, say hello and grab a coke!
I'll be there on Sat. I hope stumble across a deal or two. I haven't been in the past couple of years. Back 15-16 yrs ago there was alot of good stuff, then it started to turn into more of a rummage sale, bunch of household crap and a few car parts. Last time I went there was a good bunch of A and T model stuff. Kustomd and I stumbled across this lady with 3 complete sets of spider caps for 50.00 a set. We stroked out!!
If nothin else you can mess with some of the old sqweakers that think they own the only old stuff on the planet. I saw a decent set of 53 Caddy caps leaned up against a tree there once and asked the guy what he wanted for the set, he said 650.00 they're real hard to find. I laughed and said well, the price on my set just went WAAAYYYY up, then I asked him since they were so hard to come by if he'd be interested in another set. He wouldn't even acknowledge me.
Fort Smith Police stopped by my place and told me about this swap meet. He came by to bring my license plate back, seems I dragged my ass and dropped my tag only a few blocks from my house. Cool fella, he hung out here for awhile although his partner wasn't into the scene at all, I kept wanting to tell his partner to "lighten up" cause I just knew how much he'd love that. I wasn't planning on going until he told me how big it was so I think I'm going to plan on the trip. Maybe I'll see some of you fellers there. I shoulda told the officer about the HAMB because if he's not already a member, he should be. It's not every day ya run into someone that knows a lot about your car and into the hot rod scene, especially a cop.
