Hot Rods So I may have found the guy who originally built my 40 as a hot rod in 1958.

I want to know if you get the opportunity also... This kind of stuff really means a lot to me. I had one guy hunt me down, and asked me all about a project I did a few years back. My favorite part of it all, is the fact that it was still reliable, and that engine I built 20 years ago, was still running perfectly! Made my day!

My sedan was owned by a body-shop owner in town way back in the 50's thru 70's, until purchased by a local hot rod hero from the dying bodyman. Years later my Dad bought it from the widow of the hot rod hero. Then Dad gave it to me. A few years after we got the car running, I was able to give a ride to the son (in his 70's now) of the old bodyman and reminisce about the history of the car. Knowing the history of your car is a special thing.

Just stopped back at the N.A.P.A. store the guy was out on a parts run. I left them my name and number . I got my fingers crossed. I did find a picture of my buddy's chopped 40 coupe that has the shaved an peeked hood that came off of my convert. 50921771_2328467057165413_3002180318837866496_n.jpeg

I wish I could find out who customized my car once long ago, but It's been passed around to many times, and I don't have a VIN.

Back at the N.A.P.A. store again today . The guy was out on a parts run. The gril at the counter said he had been in contact with him and was waiting for a call back. Still waiting patiently.

  17. 40conv+me.jpg Good luck on your search. I've always had a soft spot for '40 converts. I've often wondered what happened to the one I had back in the sixties.

The guy at the counter once again said he was waiting for a call back. I went to the choppers car show today hoping to run into one of the old timers that might have known Yug . The only fellow I ran into that might have been old enough to know him didn't remember him. But they did have a sweet 39 convertible at the show.

I went back to the NAPA store friday to see if the guy heard anything from Yug. Guess who doesn't work there anymore. No problem just give me his number. They say we can't give out phone numbers WTF. I should have got his number when I gave him mine. I am still hoping he gives me a call. In the meantime I am going to see if I can track down the guy I bought it from in 1971 maybe he has some pictures of it hopefully.

Next time you take the car to an event, put a sign in the window asking if anyone remembers Yug.

  28. Did you ever get his full name, I really don't understand the cloak & dagger mentality of the guys at your local NAPA.

Hipaa ( right to privacy ) laws only refer to people who are in the hospital or a health care facility, sounds like a bunch of BS to me. HRP

Do you know the last name of the employee? If so, call all of them in the phone book and ask if they know Yug?

If you don't know his name, ask some of the other employees. The boss might not tell you, but I bet the other workers would. Especially if they know you are just trying to track down the old owner of your car. Doesn't hurt to ask.

If they won’t give you his number maybe they would make a call to him and give him yours. If he left on good terms.
