A lot of our early cars & trucks don't have a glove compartment and I would image most states are like South Carolina and require you to have proof of insurance and registration in each car should you see flashing lights in your rear view mirror and have a nice officer tap on your window with the request for license, registration and POI.

In the past I had a small bank bag hanging on the p***enger kick panel with zip ties but now I have a real interior I'm looking for something a little nicer.

As for the drivers license it's in my wallet but where do you keep your insurance card & registration if you lack a glove compartment? HRP

I keep mine in a small wallet type folder that attaches to the steering post. Some states are allowing such thing to be kept on the I type phones now. I still have a flip phone so I can't play.

I remember a HAMBer made a registration holder that was leather and fastened around the steering column. This is way back though, like 2009-11 range.

  5. Washington state used to require that your registration be displayed on the steering column in a holder, but when tilt levers, key switches and other stuff started sprouting out of them had to give it up...

Not very handy, but I keep mine in a pouch sewn across the back of my drivers seat.

I made a metal holder like came on an early pickup truck mounted on my left kick panel. Just big enough for registration papers, ins and maps.......yeah, I use paper maps, they are better than gps.

Is your car still at the upholsterers place Danny?
If so then I think this idea will work with your door panel design.
Functional pockets that look good too.

I keep mine in my billfold along with my license. Someone steals the car they don't have my address and other info.

I found an old WWII tank driver flap pistol holster at a gun show and hung it from p***enger kick panel. Seemed like something an old hot rodder returning from the war would do... added bonus, my gran dad drove a tank in WWII!!!

I have a zippered pencil pouch attached to the top of my visor, as a bonus keeping that stuff there
means I don't make the nice officer nervous b y reaching into a glove box he cannot see into.

My wallet. Only required to show drivers license and proof of insurance and the insurance card is small enough to fit easily

The registration & POI must be in the car, Brenda & I drive all the cars so having the important paper work in my wallet will not work in my case.
