Never seen one of these

I saw this on Craigslist. I have never seen anything like this before. Yes, I’ve seen pop up campers before. Anyone have any other pictures or ad photos they would like to share. I just thought it was kind of cool.

 

a friend of mine had one of those. there was a company that built those but i don't know who. i wanted it but he sold it.

 

I like it.. My neighbor has a 1959 Ford retractable hardtop and just restored a 1957 boat with the fins painted to match. Nothing like the oldies.

 

That is cool. Just looked at restored ones, would be great behind a 50's car.

 

Back in the day I remember a guy with an OT VW window van with a sun roof that had a boat that attached to the top to provide more head room for camping and a fishing boat as well. Pretty rare bird, worth big bucks today I'm guessing.

 

Only made about 200, big bucks back then. Seems as though they can still be bought as a project, but the lifting mechanism would be the hardest part of the project as long as you have carpentry and fibergl*** skills.

 

Several company's made interesting pop ups back in the day.

This one resembled the 52-54 Ford and the top detached and is a boat, with the boat top removed there was a canvas tent to keep it covered. HRP

Very cool guys. I can just imagine pulling up the lake just before the sun starts setting, getting camp kind of set up. Then pulling the boat out to the lake to catch yourself a nice big trout just before the sun sets. Take it back and fry it up over the campfire. Have a few drinks. Then cozy up to the old lady in the new camper. Lol.

 

The ones with the boats are cool as hell.

 

My Father and I manufactued as small tilt up fibergl*** tent camper in the early 60's I'll look for some photos. It was flat enough when down to be level with a VW Karma Guia. I sold about 10 of them and all the molds in 1964. It was sold as "Compact Camper" in Inglewood.

 

Awesome. Hope you can find some photos. Some old poster ads would be cool to.

This one was made in Oregon from what I’ve read about them. Only 16 ever built, possibly only 10 remain in existence.

 

I took pics of this Ranger at the Relix Riot last summer.

This one really shows the trailer off. Looks like it was sold out of Salem Oregon. Very cool.
