I've been looking all over the net and can't seem to fine anybody that sells a re-upholstery kit for the factory seat frames on door panels in my 51 Chevy. The interior in my car is all a light blue valor . I'm looking for something in light, med, or dark grey vinyle or leather. Any advice would be great!
JC Whitney.Sounds crazy i know. But they have patterns for everything. And they be cheap. You can even get R&P if you want
Rodinteriors is a bit more expensive than the others, but have a larger choice of materials, including white pearl vinyl, and Zodiac. Whitney and others carry Covercraft brand seat covers. OK, but limited in color and style choices. autointeriors.com carries them, and in a nice choice of colors, and styles. Better prices than rodinteriors.com. Good service, too, got my truck's covers form them.
I stripped off my old upholstery and sent it to an upholstery guy to use as patterns - he sent me back finished upholstery - looks FACTORY !!!!
I second that, I've used JCW a few times and was impressed ,especially the quality and ship time and don't think their prices can be beat. EZ and rod interiors are pricey!!!
Well I took my seats to a local shop today to see what they would do them for. They say they recover the front and rear seats with a nice vinly that looks just like leather. Seat would have pleats running up and down in them to make them more confordable. Quoted me $1,000 plus $500 for a head liner It's the first place I looked but it's sounds a little high to me. What do y'all think?
there is supposed to be a shop in cleveland (georgia) not ohio. if you like i will try and get their number.
I know that a few years ago CARS inc was making kits for early chevies. Custom Rodder did an article on them, I'll see if I can find them. I know this sounds kind of weird, but us and all of our friends have their upholstery done at the local prison. They have a vocational program that is taught by two master upholsterers. You have to supply the fabric, but they strip the seats and do the foam and everything. They just did the front bucket seats, rear seats and door panels in my dad's '63 bonneville convertible in a horseshoe tucke and roll for $250.
DAMN! I knew I should have went to prison! RodInteriors.com has some nice stuff on there sit. Will call them in the morning
I got a seat cover for my 39 Plymouth from www.automotiveinteriors.com they were cheap, have lots of choices and I had my cover in about 2 weeks. I just installed it over the weekend, decent instructions, came with the hog rings & hog ring pliers, and looks great. Gene
