The burst proof locking mechanism. With door closed the body lines match up perfectly, tho the guy doing the work is saying its more work than he anticipated, as he wants it perfect. Hes doing a great job.

A couple more local GM Holden Chevs. love the 37 cabriolet, 35 Master sloper (All enclosed coupe), 38 ute and 37 sedan delivery. Note how doors on the SD overlap rear 1/4. That's factory 20190429_070141.jpeg 20190429_070054.jpeg 20190429_070206.jpeg 20190428_132548.jpeg 20190428_132532.jpeg 20190428_132507.jpeg 20190428_132454.jpeg 20190428_132252.jpeg 20190428_132216.jpeg

37 cabriolet, note pressings in cowl don't exten on door on GMH bodies. Very rare GMH Chevrolet Landau sedan with fold down top 20190428_131853.jpeg 20190428_131848.jpeg 20190428_132446.jpeg 20190428_132744.jpeg 20190428_132514.jpeg

Stock 34 roadster and beautifully restored RHD Fisher bodied 38 cabriolet. There was a 1928 phaeton that was driven all the way to Tasmania (2,300klm) when the owner retired there in 2018. He then drove it all the way back here for the show and is heading back home again.

    The 33 PU was still LHD as was a 31 5 passenger coupe and a 31 coupe. 20190428_125324.jpeg 20190428_125354.jpeg 20190428_125628.jpeg 20190428_125641.jpeg 20190428_125647.jpeg 20190428_125757.jpeg

Been collecting parts for my '26 Chevy roadster for too many years. I know how it feels to make a score like that.

I made some progress on it, however as many lives go marriage, children, a business, and easier projects took priority over the roadster.
IMG_0478.JPG Good news is my kids are now nearing teenage status, time is more abundant, I'm wrapping up a muscle car build, and my 13 YO daughter is on me to get working on the 'coolest car ever'. So, its time to blow the dust off!

    31 Chevy 6

Fifty one years ago I was dreaming of having a Chevy 6 powered, high wheeled, 1920s racer styled car. I'm finally working on it, but it is a 31 roadster instead of the dirt track car. I mocked the car up and realized how tall it was and that it needed to drop a lot. I'm going to do a 3" drop in the 51, 1/2 ton front axle, but I was wondering if anyone has placed the axle above the springs and if they had problems with it. I'm down to the frame now and am ready to start the rebuild. The 261 is backed by a 47 truck bell housing, 39 transmission, and I have a 39 rear axle, which needs the torque tube & drive shaft cut and welded. The frame cross member, at the back of the motor, will have the center section removed and 1/4" steel plate replacing it, for clearance. I'm keeping the Lovejoy shocks and will add front and rear roll bars. I'm a long way from worrying about the wood, but I plan to use a wood body frame.

The axle on top of the springs was done quite a bit. Other than frame and old pan clearance I don't see problems. I am thinking of the same thing for my '26. Mt thought is to remove the bolt pad from the top of the axle and put one on the bottom. The drums on the '49 or so pickup axles fit the early Chevy wire spoke wheels. Mine are 19".
