Crawled around like a worm for a couple hours and got my brake lines mostly done. I need some fittings and some adel clamps and hopefully that’s a wrap. I also gotta do the ebrake stuff but I’ll figure that out later. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thank you! Can’t wait to get this thing on the road.. list seems to be growing.. that’s how it goes though Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Flipped the steering balls around for the tie rod and drag link to clear. Still need to find a better driver side arm as it’s pretty worn out. Maybe I’ll just replace the balls on it... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Interesting the shallow spring shackle angle. I've had a few A axles and most of them had shackle wear on top of axle. I guess the only way to alleviate that problem would be a slightly shorter spring.
Yeah it looks like it touches but it has 1/4” or so underneath of clearance... I’m also planning on changing the spring too Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Have you seen drdave's build thread? A bit different (sedan, banger, mech. brakes, etc.), but an interesting read, nonetheless. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/drdave-accidentally-buys-a-model-a-now-what.1111340/
pulled the rest of the scruff from the car . Kinda been tight on car money lately so I’m doing all the little stuff I’ve been avoiding. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
And this lid...! The rumble seat was glue and screwed and wired and all sort of crazy stuff and the lid was all kinds of hacked.. I buy the **** out Nd saved what I could without spending a ton of time on it. I still wanna get a new or better lid eventually cause the skin is pretty beat too. For now I’m tryin to straighten and save the old paint as much as I can cause I like the look of it. Plus it’s way easy to not worry about everything being perfect. I hope to paint this car really nice eventually but I wanna get the car where I want it over time and then do it right when I have settled on it all. Here’s the hacked mess and the botch I ended up with and that’s how it’s gonna roll till I find something better. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
and I threw a fender on .. you can see the diff between the A sprin and the T spring. Right now it’s perfect but I’m afraid it might be a little too soft we’ll see. This is a fibergl*** fender I have a set of steel fenders I need to do some metal work on and they’ll go on later. I’ve been so back and forth on fenders or not. Think I’m gonna roll with fenders for a bit . Anymore I love seeing the fendered cars. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I have brackets on the axles wehre i can fit fenders for a while, and take them off again for racing as i like ..
Great build! Love working with what you have and making it look like it belongs. I have the same issue with paint as you do...right now I don't have to worry about messing it up, but its chipping and flaking everywhere, so I'm sure I'll end up "as long as I'm.....I may as well...." myself into a paint job in the not too distant future. Love the look with the fenders....if your taking votes. LOL Carry on!
made my drag link from an old tie rod and put the steering wheel on to make sure it’s Centered.. seems good so far Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
