For sale locally near me is a speedway 6" drop axle with a track width of 58" hub to hub. The track width is perfect for my 56, just dont know how the 6" drop would work. I really don't want my car to sit nose high, so I prefer the drop axles. I just have never seen any with 6" drops on a 55, 56, or 57, or any other full body cars. I've been looking over the web for as much info as I can find and haven't come up with much. Anyone think 6" is too much? Any pictures? I should mention my car currently has rear shackles and ball joint spacers and sits lifted up a little as is. 20150913_163300.jpg

6" drop in an otherwise straight tube run gets unnecessarily close to the scrub line with 15" wheels...
Even 4" is excessive on a tube. 3" with 'adjustment' to the springs' arch is the recommended method of height/ride adjustment.
Also a guaranteed spec of wall thickness. (thinwall tube axles flex notably...avoid them.)

A bit aggressive at six inches, ideally about four would be my sweet spot, a good happy medium between the jacked up look and the too low look.
I'll give you credit for bucking the trend of the nose up "gasser" stance.

Thanks Denny. It's all about attitude, not altitude.

Just a picture of the axle in question. It didn't quite look like a 6" drop to me, but pictures can be deceiving.

When I first built this I had a 5" dropped axle in it IMG_1090.JPG

Awesome! I've always loved seeing your car on the other threads. Have any photos of the side so I could get an idea of the stance?

I have always loved the way Gary Kollofskis? 55 looked with a dropped axle , not sure it was a 6" drop though:cool:

    The gold standard!
A lot depends on the other combination of components, I.e. springs, hangers, frame mods, tire diameter, etc.

That was my first thought too.
The tech box says "MAS tube axle dropped six inches with parallel semi-elliptical springs" and " '54 Chevy spindles "

  14. LOL probably wouldn't keep me from running it though. :D :D :D

We put a 4" drop axle in an OT farilane in the 90s. I don't have pics, we let the snout droop. Worked out perfect. He drove it every day and run it on grudge night nearly every week.
