I looking for ideas on a brake pedal for my 1938 Ford Coe. I will be using the original dog house keeping my Coe as a cab over engine. I am thinking of a floor mounted pedal with the master and maybe booster under the drivers seat area. Anyone do something like this with a 1973-1987 Chevy truck frame? My only concern here is the upper A-arm in the way. Or possible under dash or firewall mounted master? I will have an original style radiator to deal with too. I think I need to mock up a drivers seat to get a feel for pedal location.
Based upon the frame location and your steering setup, I think you will have to hang the pedal from above. With the stock radiator, room is limited, so you could use two pivot points, one at the firewall to turn the brake rod down the firewall, then another below the floor level to turn the shaft level to the ground. That would locate the master under the floor and you could use a remote reservour. If you decide to do the stock type pedal, switch to a car pedal. They are a few inches shorter than the COE pedal and will give you more room to fit it in. Also, use the rubber seal fthat slides over the pedal arm from a 39 Ford to block the hole when the pedal is in the up position.
This is a good question. I have the brake booster and MC at the firewall but the lines are close to the hood. Im thinking about moving it to under the cab. The F1 pedals are so dam ***y
I used a dodge van vac booster m/ c cross mount with one ton gm master and booster used pedal and mount from gm one ton also
