Features 41-48 Ford and Merc Picture Thread!

Any more pic's of the chopped & flamed 46 sedan? looking at the pic I would say it was taken some time ago.

 

I have seen at least three '41 Merc short-doors, so I'm not surprised to hear of a '42.

 

These were taken in the eighties in and around Michigan and Ontario at various car shows.

 

1985 Dorchester Ontario.

 

Thanks for the old pic's of the 46 sedan. Don't think I have ever seen it before. I'm assuming I'm looking at an earlier flamed version as well as a later version with the Corvette grill.

I believe your right about the later and earlier version of this car. I seemed to remember it was owned by a guy named Ed and it was quite a staple of the car shows in that era in the Detroit area as well as around parts of Ontario.

 

My dad just picked this beauty up dirt cheap. All original 48 4 door with a Columbia. Going to be his daily.

I just got my 47 on the road a few day ago, bought it in Feb it had great bones but needed the dust knocked off and a bunch of TLC. New suspension, steering, ignition, front brakes.
The interior of the car was customized in 1968, the car came out of Beloit Kansas it was a dirt road car but garaged.









Left hand shift, they say the guy that did the interior liked to put his arm around his gal.

My 48

 

I see more and more of the 46-48 Fords lately.
What do you guys think, are they becoming more popular like the 32-34 Fords did?

 

I think it's due to how cheap they can still be bought for. Personally they are some of the best cars Ford ever built both mechanically and in the looks department. Very underrated

i agree, i paid 1500 for mine, been in a barn for 40 years, minimal rust, fairly straight. i see em for under 2k all the time, saw a short door business coupe for 500 the other day

My 47 tudor. Picture was taken in an alley behind an old Ford dealership.

This one is a Bitchin three piece with a home made insert. The one I've seen that I like the best is a cut down 49 Ford. It is just a little too wide but with some creative surgery it goes in and looks natural. The key is using the back of the 48 and splicing the 49 pieces to it. Usually you lose the clock. But I've seen it done retaining the clock.
