Chrome Plating in So-Cal ( LA area)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Shiftymutt, Jun 8, 2006.

  1. I am looking for a plating shop that will shave the bumper bolts ( I tried it myself but am afraid that I do not have the skills to shave them clean enough to make the plating look good) and then rechrome the bumpers on my 62 Galaxie. I have an extra set of bumpers that are a little bent that I have been practicing on but I don't want to screw up the good set.

  2. try vern's chrome in gardena.
pricey, but the best there is.

I spent three months in SoCal, and stopped in to talk to the guys at Verne's. I dropped in for a shirt, since my dad's name is Verne. :D But when I got there, I was greeted with incredible hospitality,a tour of the shop, and got to see a lot of their custom work. It blew my mind. I was so impressed that I have the business card in my wallet after three years. If and when I need work done, and if it makes sense to have the work done there, I will. REAL hot rod guys.

The owner's name is Ron Verne, and the second in command is Bob Barnes. Bob buys and sells all kinds of cars and parts too.

    DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!
I am pretty sure that they have a patent on "temporary chrome".
We used to use them but half of every order immediately had to go back and the other half would bubble within weeks.
We switched to Van Nuys Plating. They don't work for free but their work holds up.
