Hey Muttley--You can't have the BAR or THIS in Californicate! (50 rounds in 5 seconds). Clyde Barrow era BARs are over $30,000 for transferable guns. The later ones are a little less. Thompsons are running from $15,000 to over $40,000 depending on condition and collectability. Federal paperwork (tax stamp $200) takes at least 10-12 weeks to clear before you can take posession.
These registered peices of history are appreciating at about 25% per year, at present.

I bought some guns from a guy whose wife didn't want them around her kids. I asked her if she taught her kids to look both ways before crossing the street. She said, "Of course!" I told her that she should make sure her kids went to a firearms safety course to help keep them safe around guns, and that way more kids are killed by cars while crossing the street, than by guns.

Zeke-- stay safe and thanks for serving.

With your kind of at***ude, its very likely that your kids WILL get hurt. The kids WILL find your guns, They WILL find your keys.

A MUCH better approach is to teach them about guns and how to use them. By the time I was 10 years old, I had been instructed in the use of the .22 rifle and was allowed to shoot it anytime. (Out in the country)
By hiding the gun and forbidding the use of it, you create an appeal that even the best child cant resist.

Who are the blue helmets? Need to know so that i can keep an eye out for 'em. I don't have any guns, because being a former fighter I was arrogant enough to believe there would never be a situation that I couldn't fight my way out of. That said, I have a family now and think it's wise for a responsible (meaning one who can secure it properly) person to keep one just in case the **** hits the fan (like big natural catastrophy, riots, blue helmets, whatever.) One with only hands cannot defend against a mob or a goon with a good weapon... One of these days i'm getting myself a firearm and learning to properly fire it.

I do like my bb gun, however :)

Funny, i've never fired a real gun-- being that my dad grew up hunting and is a marksman. However, he was in Vietnam and something that happened there must have convinced him that he didnt want his son into guns-- as he never taught me.

    of 20 attempts to murder others;
of the infliction of grievous bodily harm on yet three more; and
of the infliction of wounds upon a further eight persons

  14. Hey Necro, not having a go at you and dont wanna get political lol but unfortunately you are right re what happened in T***ie re the deaths. But the level of ignorance about what happened there really ****s me, and of theres one thing that fires me up its ******** in the media about guns and hot rods. Oh and BTW I can say this here beacuse in our country of "free speech" we cant critisize anyone because it "Un Australian ??" ********

If you want to know the truth, dig a little deeper. Worldwide there is an agenda to disarm civilian populations. This is even being tried Stateside but is proving difficult so now instead they can deport if you look Middle Eastern wtf?? Easier that way perhaps? In the US they have it written in their Cons***ution (correct me guys if Im wrong!!) that they have the right to bear arms to protect themselves, guess what we have in Oz bro.....NOTHING. Our Cons***ution isnt worth the paper its written on. Democracy ?? hmmm lets see, what happened with all the new IR laws ?? Protests all over the country but the Govt didnt give a **** and put the new laws in place. RARE.............

So heres the deal re that ****wit Martin Bryant and everything that went down, not to have a go at you. Just as in the way there is Joe Public ignorance when it comes to hotrods, the same applies to gun owners and firearm sports in this country. Political correctness once again......

The SSAA was lobbying the Tas/SA State Govts for YEARS prior to this slaughter (and lets make no mistake, it WAS slaughter), for TOUGHER licensing laws in that state and to bring T***ie in line with Vic and NSW. Did they listen ? NO !! Reported by the media? NO !!

The Herald Sun, Age, Current affair shows on TV and all other media outlets ********ted the public (hidden agenda there) about guns in general (fear tactics), as most people in the general public have NO IDEA about guns just as they have no idea about hot rods ....DIG?? I could list a page of examples but I wont.

The weapon that was used by this ***** in T***ie was handed in to the T***ie cops during an amnesty 7 YEARS prior to the m***acre. How the **** did it end up in this maniacs hands back on the streets after it was handed in to the cops all those years ago????? Once again, something that the s***bags in the media decided NOT to report - b/c it didnt support the hidden agenda.

The public protest march in Melb (I was there) was attended by over 150,000 gun owners - the media reported 40,000 attended!! WTF ????

And last, if the average dumb*** in the street thinks that by banning lawful firearm use/users, they will be safer, it pretty much tells me that they have NO ****ing idea about what goes on the the REAL world and deserve to be governed by an even bigger ****wit that presides over the biggest herd of sheep in this part of the world.

    Rant over...........

Without getting long winded and getting political, the United Nations. Kind of a joke with my buddies but there is a lot of truth in there.

I think owning and using a gun for protection and sport is as American as apple pie and hot rods.

I know the laws in CA are strange but for general home protection, a good semi-auto pistol with about a 15 round mag is about as good as it gets (first gun I bought when we got married and for just that purpose). A shotgun is second, IMHO. I keep both. However, with that said, a gun is useless unless you can get to it VERY quickly. That's why I have a security alarm on all of the house- doors and windows. It has an instant on feature. If someone were to kick down the door while I was sleeping, it instantly turns on the siren. One of two things happen next; the alarm scares the (murderer, ******, theif, etc) away OR he/she continues to come in my house. By this time he may wished he had left. I will defend my wife and child until the death. I keep my pistol in the drawer by by bed. It stayed loaded (well, none in the chamber) until recently when my child has become able to run around and get into things. Now, the unloaded pistol stays in the drawer and the mag up on a shelf, WAAAAy out of reach hidden behind some silly baskets. Once my child becomes able to get to that, I'll have to have another approach to keeping a gun.

Semi auto pistols, in my opinion, are safer than revolvers......as long as you don't keep one in the chamber. And, this opinion is only true if the child in the house is small. A semi-auto's action/slide is difficult for some adults to work. Add that in with putting a clip in it, working the safety, etc, it makes it tough for even a child to load one in the chamber and fire it (not 100% though, but it does help). Regardless, it's still a gun and I don't want to be looking down the barrel of a gun that my little girl has even if I KNOW it's not loaded (because ALL guns are loaded or should be treated that way).

Yes, do your family a favor and get a gun. BUT, BUT, BUt, make sure YOU AND your wife understand how to use it. Make sure your child understands it when the time is right.

    enough from here...

  16. FY you made some good points there !!

Here in Oz the guns must be all registered to the owner and locked in a safe with the ammunition locked in a SEPERATE safe. The cops do random checks here (what a waste of already limited Police resources - checking on LAW ABIDING citizens while homes are being burgled daily and drug deals are going down around the corner) sheesh....

Even BEFORE this was law my old man stored his guns this way - std procedure for him AND me. I'd suggest you do the same once your kid gets old enough to maybe find the guns/ammo. And you're right, a gun for self defence is useless if you cant get to it in time, just as a gun without ammo is as useless as ***s on a bull.

Even if you used in it self defence if some lolife invades your residence, and you wound or kill them, theres no guarantee here in Oz; you could be locked up for murder WTF???. Crims have more rights than law abiding citizens in these parts I tell ya.

If you have guns AND kids, its OUR responsibility to teach them to RESPECT the firearm....NEVER point it at anyone or anything unless you have IDd the target AND intend to shoot.

    Good advice
