i wanted to add to tech week so i thought i would write about what i did best at the shop, cleaning the floor. First you want to get all the racks in the air. next, get the big wide broom and sweep all the junk into a big pile. Then get the small broom to get all the cigarette butts out of the cracks in the floor and to get the stuff under the workbenches. Add this new stuff in the pile. Sweep all into pan and deposit in trash can. Wet down the whole floor making sure not to get any equiptment or other mechanics wet as this is not taken to kindly. Spread an even amount of the NAPA yellow powder over the area you are cleaning. Get the thick brush and start scrubing. When done scrubing rinse towards the drain. After rinsing get the squeegie and get remaining water/soap/junk into the drain. Now you have a clean floor!!! And your reward is that now you get to take out the garbage, but that will have to be saved for a different tech. It's great bein the shop lackey. haha

I am not sure what it is called, but the shop has the big buckets from NAPA that have a yellow powder floor cleaner. It is what the boss told me to use. I am not sure about the environmental safety, but i doubt NAPA would sell a highly toxic cleaner for floors.

You send me a plane ticket to North Carolina and i will come clean the shop. I could use some warmer weather. The place i was working at was like a huge ash tray. They would just drop the ashes and the butts on the floor! Those butts are a pain to get at sometimes! haha

I don't know what you call warmer. Well I guess it is sunny & 33 out right now. I guess it's probably freezing balls up there right now. Next time Just take aleaf blower and open a door, that'll either teach 'em or get ya fired..... Sorry can't do the plane ticket, I'm buying a 425 Nailhead this weekend....

Yeah, that's about a 150 hour job at my place. I usually just open the garage doors on both sides, open all the windows, close up my apartment and break out the LEAF BLOWER!

Forgot to mention, you've got to put up the small stuff first, and make sure the parts cleaner is closed.

It's even easier than most people realize. All you have to do is tell your students that we'll be doing meaningless book work for the next month if the shop isn't clean. Try it some time, it works great.
