some simple fabrication needed or just use of a drill press and vise in dallas. preferably downtown. just wanna make 2 sets of these. 1/2 in all thread 5 in long and 1/4 in steel plate. for lowering rear by compressing coil springs
If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, or even OReily or similar parts store, you can get ready made spring compressors that can accomplish the same thing. I used a set for a while on a car. I also had blocks to raise springs a bit for another project. Here's some info: http://www.allpar.com/eek/coils.html Or by it onine from JC Whitney: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...01/showCustom-0/N-111+600003419+10201/c-10101
that price is much better. the ones i posted a pic of were $40 a pair... and thats fron jcwhitney... figured i could make em for $5 a pop but i'll look for those ones thanks
need to order some stuff from summitt and i found they have these for $10 a pair... will just get these
Just take the springs out and cut them. It's free and accomplishes the same thing, shortening the spring and increasing the rate.
I like the clamping idea . . . that way if you can't live with the new spring rate, you can always put it back. If you were going to cut them, you could try finding a spring "hat" that would work (in the right diameter) to keep the boogers centered where they need to be. I'm going to go junkyard diving for some springs to try on my car.
