So I asked this in the main forum but just learned about this social group so I am coming over here for some help.

I am looking to swap out my steering wheel on my 52 Ford Crestline. I have searched and searched but cannot find an adapter for the life of me (other than a Grant universal, which i am leery on how it would even work much less look). I have found them for early ford up to 1948 but nothing for my 52. It seems like it would be a pretty basic adapter. Has anyone with a 52 or similar ben able to find anything?

    Thank you

I would think you may get more answers if you let us know what wheel you intend to use.depending on wheel you may or may not need an adapter.

According to the site they only show adapters for mustangs but i will contact them and ask. I have checked out Grant but just haven't really seen much that catches my eye.

Because all standard "universal" steering columns use a GM upper shaft spline. Flaming River charges a bunch more for a Ford specific column. IDIDIT seems on the fence from what I have looked at.

Same reason most universal wiring kits are usually GM color code wiring. Easier/cheaper for aftermarket world to initiate a standard.

Nothing concrete here but http://www.lecarra.com/does cover a lot of Ford applications. Guessing that most early Fords have 40 spline shaft. I am wanting to put the Mark 10 wheel on mine but not ready yet. I would call them.

The one I used is a grant adapter. It was for a later model Ford but the same spline. I used it and the horn ****on kit in the box to mount a superior metal flake wheel. I dont know the part number but it was hanging out by the steering wheels at autozone.

  12. I bought an IDIDIT column. Used a Grant wheel and Grant adapter. For wiring I used Americanautowire.com part #500428 GM column connector kit. $10

I guess since the Bob Drake wheel has an odd ball center you will have to cross that one off the list. :(

I am thinking that I will go with a Grant for now (since they are fairly cheap when compared to everything else) until I decide to go with a new updated steering column (maybe add tilt :)). Then go with a wheel that I really want.
