I have a '46-47 Ford 59AB flathead removed from a 1.5 Ton Ford truck and I would like to install it in lieu of the stock V8-60 (been removed) in the 1937 Ford coupe. I have searched quite extensively, but haven't found any articles with precise details. Some photos, instructions (links to other articles) and a parts list would be very much appreciated. The '37 still has the stock transmission, which I plan to change.
From memory frame is same and has the sockets and holes for 85 mounts in place, and there is a simple diagonal brace on each side going over/past those mounts and holding a socket for the 60 mounts on each side. You just need to drill out the rivets to remove the braces, then 85 mounts are right there. Parts list is just the mount cushions... You will want regular size radiator, likely to be aftermarket nowadays. Adapting a 60 trans is fairly easy but the normal p***enger one is TINY and WEAK and should not be used. The bigger 60n trans is an 85 trans with minor mods to case, but I ***ume it left with original engine. You need and '32-48 p***enger trans you like with a '37 rear mount swapped on if necessary. If you can't easy hook up clutch you might have to swap the clutch lever on side of trans bellhousing...there are a number of variants.
Yep. Bruce is correct. Of course. [emoji3] I first thought The stock radiator will work with that setup, here to find out it’s actually smaller. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147230&highlight=Radiator+60 Let’s see some pictures.
