Thanks for the Thunder Road link scooter,

The high tech thing is not for me either, but the fab details are very helpful and apply directly to my project.

    Thanks again,

I don't know why I didn't think of this before... these things are sort of like Ute's (Australian utility trucks... sort of). Coaltown and I were talking about this last night and it dawned on me... Here's some pics...
    Anglia Ute:
    '36 ford ute
    [IMG]
This is said to be the first one and it is supposedly a 1932 Ford Utility vehicle (notice the grille and fenders) I've seen other info that suggest this is a 33 or 34
    [IMG]
    37 ford Ute
    [IMG]
This was labeled as a 35 roadster Ute
    [IMG]
more of the '32 coupe utility... errr... '32 Deuce Ute :D
    [IMG]

    And a link:

Here's what was said to be a 1918 Model T Utility Truck:

    Or this '39

I saw several other makes as well when I did a search, including Chevy, Mercury and also Nash.

Anyway, wanted to add that bit. Carry on!

    Yeah,...freaky lookin huh??!! LOL!

    i think they are!:D

    A bit off topic,.. BUT,...

I HAVE GOT TO GET BACK TO THE WEST COAST SOON!!!! I LOVE THE DRY AIR! I have asthma as well as my wife and when we were in Vegas, that was like the first time in about over a year I could breath through both nostrills!!

Vegas's strip was a bit hyped, but there is soo much off the strip that I saw and much much more that I missed!! I'll be back!! Thanks again for the beer Scott! Great to talk with you....Tred,...we ALL have to get together next time, sorry I was having some cell probelsm while there.

Ok,...back to this modified truck thing!

  11. Here's an oldskool version, my friend there just swapped off something for it, I forget what.

My own A truck was apparently done like this, too, except they never put a back on it afterwards, just cut it off and put a stock box on.

This one has the back tacked to the B-posts and fenderwells made by cutting them out of the sedan shell. Note the round-top doors. Thing is it came with the sedan back doors, and a set of square-window front doors, too. I guess the motor turns in this, I don't think it would take a lot to make it run.

Interesting pictures above. I was once offered one of those Anglia utes, along with 2 Prefect utes of the same era, but my father wouldn't allow me to bring them home. I also have a genuine 35 Ford roadster ute, the remains of a 37 Ford ute, and some panels I salvaged from a 35 Ford coupe ute. That 37 shown above lives about an hour from me.

Used the garnish molding from the inside of the back window for the outside.

I really liked your Sedan. Especially the stance.

I hope to build an early 50's dragster with a T-bucket body on the back. In my fantasies, the front of the frame would bend slightly upwards (kind of like on Santa's sleigh). Leaf springs would attach to the tops of the "skis" and run back, perpendicular to the front axel, then mount on some shackles on the rails. Everything looked like it would fit perfectly when I drew it on a napkin at Arby's.:)

I thought I'd have a little armature Photoshop fun with your sedan. I'm not saying you should change anything, I just thought I'd see what it might look like as a dragster. Here's what I came up with...

Very nice photoshop work. Hot rods never die, so who knows, maybe someone will convert my current project into a retro dragster someday. It does look very cool as you've re-rendered it.

In any event, I think you should build your 50's dragster vision as soon as you can!

    Have fun!

I sold him this truck, but these are his pics.;)Yes we are related. The farmer that had cut this one lived next door when i brought it home.He had left it back where his farm had been,30 yrs and 3 provinces away!!!Talk about strange fate,he was quite shocked to see this arrive unexpectedly, next door! Will be very cool, fenderless with the Caddy flathead and LaSall stick .
