Sam he was fucking with you and Gooch! It was pretty funny too!!

All in all, I think there are valid points on both sides of the argument. I like the flyrite choppers better than the ugly-assed WCC bikes, but I can also see how flyrite might look a little like a gay alternative to building an actual bobber from an existing bike (IE; What we call Real Hot Rodding). I don't, but I also don't pass the time bitching about billet rodders or gold-chainers, or credit-rodders (anymore [IMG]).

But what it comes down to is that Christian doesn't like their bikes. He doesn't have to be from America to know he thinks they suck. You like them, great. He ain't saying the guys at Flyrite should loose their jobs and go hungry, while raising WIC babies on welfare...

But then again I saw a guy in long beach the other nite wreck his OCC bike and I'm pretty sure he bought it (header into the gutter, never regained conciousness), so I won't be riding bikes any time soon. I guess I don't know shit. May be I should move to Belgium...

Yeah, I agree with christian! All fake hot rodders build kick ass 34' coupes with full blown hemis in their garages. It's pretty damn common for them to chop their own tops too! Yeah, Jason's just a poser. Too bad he can't be cool like you and rag on the extremely succesful efforts of others.

4. Yeah, come now guys. I started this post to show off a sick bike from someone I respect or influeced me thru out my skate life, and to make it better when I got into cars and sickles I found out he did too ( way earlier) , but still.. I just thought there were others here who grew up skating and knew of the guy and liked to see one of his other bikes.. lets not bash christian for his beliefs even if we disagree.. at least he didnt talk shit on JJ, then we'd have trouble [IMG]

RF - I still like to know how you got to go to the "who cares" premiere??

Who cares? If you must know, Jason! Look below my Username--I'm a Pop Star! That's not what my friends call me, but...

6. I've emailed back and forth w/ Jason a little. He's a real, real solid guy. He actually answers your questions (rare).

Futhermore, if you want custom features he is more than happy to hook you up. This costs something, like it should.

I think he's doing something worth-while down there in Texas. Everyone can't afford a 75k WCC bike. More importantly, I think Jason has a good handle on what it's all about. Fun. I know I could have as much fun on one of his bikes as I could on a WCC or OCC or whoever CC bike. I think he knows this too. He's building cool bikes for average guys. I like that.

10. Jeez.

I'll come out and say it.

Jason's Evil Ford Coupe is a '33 , Dammit!!!

And if I wasn't such a chickenshit (no experience riding motorcycles) I'd sell my '59 and be riding one of his bikes right now.

Oh yeah. And what Krupanut said.

And damn I gotta check my PM's!!!!

Is that the one about Duane (Dwayne!) Peters? He's a queer burnout over the hill punker who can still skate, but I wouldn't waste my money seein a movie about him. Even though he did spit in Tony Hawk's face @ Big-O...

I am starting to feel real sorry for this fellow in Belgium. I mean he is so far out of touch with hotrods and motorcycles, I cant really blame him for being so naive.
I can take critisism very well, but get it right about my bikes. The parts I use were made by the same people that made them when they first came out and if its not, I fab them. I would love to have an 800# someday, people like that and great customer service.
Someday you may learn.

I'd wager Christian knows more about hot rods and customs and their history than a lot of the self-proclaimed experts on this board.

BTW I think it speaks volumes that he said what he believed and didn't get into the B.S. after it stopped being a discussion and just got stupid.

I'll say this, your bikes don't have any "hot rod history," for two reasons.

1. They're brand new
2. They're bikes and bike history should be more than enough...

Before you get all bent I'll reiterate that if I were looking for a bike, I'd probably buy one of yours, cause I think they're cool and like that you're saying fuck you to the bloated prices, and producing something bitchin' as well as reasonably priced.

Can this post die now?

I like Christian. He's actually one of the MAJOR inspirations behind the HAMB. He and I started cool hot rods on the internet... Seriously, before us there was nothing but silly no-taste bullshit on the internet. Christian is a founding father and one of the most clever people I know.

Even he has to admit that the chocolate joke was kind of funny... I laughed.

1. I am glad Ryan said it. I was just about to defend Christian as I valuable member of the HAMB, with a lot to offered to the board in the past.

2. Nationality jokes are not benificial to the HAMB.

3. Jason and Tyler are true hot rodders. I spent the afternoon over there, helping (barely) put heads on Tyler's (Outlaws) car. His Chebby is his only car, and it's been to Paso and VLV several times. He drives the shit out of it. And Jason's 33 EvilFordCoupe is one of the baddest cars on the HAMB. No need to question their hot rod worthiness.

4. The bikes. Are they one off, hand fabbed, total custom bikes? No, of course not. They start at $11K for Pete's sake. They are, however, dang good looking bikes with a lot of attitude at an incredibly low price.

5. If you don't like the bikes, Christian, please don't like them for the right reasons. These are very cool, true hot rodders. (I am biased here, but you'll have to trust me) Jason is building bikes that have a lot of individuality to each one, and a hot rod attitude with every one.

6. Is it cooler to build a bike for yourself, out of parts you beg, borrow, scrimp and save for? With your own taste, preference and skills? Heck yeah, it is! Will you build a better looking bike for less money, I doubt it.

These guys really put a lot into each bike. From a business standpoint, I think Jason is somewhat missing the boat. If he doubled the price on the bikes, he'd make more $$$, and be taken a bit more seriously by some folk. I don't know much about scooters, but I know a whole lot about sales. Ya'll better jump on some Flyrite Chopper while you have the chance.

There is some new stuff coming out of the shop in the next couple of months. Different stuff. Turn some more heads sort of stuff. I'll let them tell ya when they're ready.

Can't we all just get along?

While I have to say that it is really cool the way members of the HAMB come together to help support others on here who have small companies like flyrite. I also have to say that Christian was just stating his opinion. We all have opinions, just some are not intellegent enough to state them without resorting to emotional rants. My opinion, Flyrite puts together a pretty cool bike. They do offer it at a price that is very resonable in the cycle market these days. Not sure how many of you guys here have actually really supported Flyrite and have purchased one, but I am sure you mean well. I personally like bikes that are hand built, real choppers. Where somebody breaks out a torch,(not a catalog) and "builds" something. Just like how most of YOU feel about cars. So in saying that.. Christian, I hope you don't feel that all of over here are working on such a limited intellect. You got my respect, it has to be hard as hell to be a Hot Rodder in Europe. And Volvo makes some pretty cool cars, I had a 850R wagon that I raced in the Big Bend Open Road Race a couple of years ago. It ran in the 140mph class.
There again, these are my opinions.

18. I've posted this pic before, but there are lots of new guys that might not have seen it here or in The Horse. My buddy Bob and his home built sickle...

Jason,
Your bikes suck and your car is a piece of shit. I am sending a truck to take it all. now you can build some really bitchen Easyriders feature bikes and buy yourself a Neon SRT-4... or maybe even a VOLVO!

Can't believe you fell for that, please stop Sam, it's embarrasing.
There are quite a few ways in wich people waste Ryan's bandwith, what I'm doing now is one of 'em, you picking verbal fights on here just to show how smart you think you are is another. I don't waste my time reading 'em, but since for once you weren't as carefull picking your victims, I just thought I'd publicly have a little fun with your limited mental capacities, sorry won't do it again. Where did you ever get the crazy idea you where good at this, debate club in high-school? Welcome to the real world Sam, it's a tough place isn't it? Here's some real world pointers, if you where smart you would have picked them up already from my replies, but something tels me I'd better point them out:
1# Never get defensive about idiotic arguments, it lowers you to your opponents level.
2# Don't say just anything in order to keep the argument going, you might just say something about waffles against a Belgian after you accused him of using stereoptypes.
Oh and 3#, a bit irrelevant but I kinda feel sorry for you now, don't show this thread to your wife or students, I feel especially you should cherish the little respect you get.
Sleep tight puppetmaster.

And to the others on this thread who think I'm a stupid asshole, you're not far off, but I hope you based that opinion on what I said, not on what an illiterate said I said as seems to be the case when I read your arguments.

Wait a second My bike might be one of those Fake hot rod infuenced nostalgia rides (has pinstriping that I painted Flat black rattle can and rear white wall ect.) But if jocky shifting a iron harley with one hand on the apes, pulling the front tire up in third and no damn front brakes isnt hot rod I dont know what is.)

Flyrite choppers are the cleanest bikes I have ever seen. Even If I Had the Crazy money for a WCC bike I'd call Flyrie first (although I substitue the NeoPAn motor for the Evo) but thats just the "nostalgia" in me. No body is doing the straight forward clean bikes that those Austin boys are.

So now we wait for Sam's response to fuck this post up even more... I'm starting to see a pattern here... Let's break it!

I actually have a VERY funny Christian story. About 5 or 6 years ago, I met RF in Orange County and we got all revved up to go to Paso. Christian was gonna come with us and for one reason or another... Seems like his new/old van broke down or some shit and he couldn't get to our meeting spot? I don't remember, but we planned to hook up somewhere in Paso later. Again, Christian was a no show. Rob, Rudy, and I were making foreigner jokes left and right - I'm sure Belgium waffles came up then too... We thought he got lost and ended up in Vegas and didn’t know any better.

“Man, Paso has a lot of casinos!”

We went all weekend without so much as a glimpse of Christian’s shadow. Turns out, he met some chick on the way to Paso and didn’t leave his hotel room once!!!! I dunno why, but I’ve never laughed so hard when I heard that. He came all the way from Belgium to taste test some American Ass… That is SO punk rock. I’ve been a huge Christian fan ever since. And then there is the shit grinder story, but that has to be a new post…

Point is, we are all people man. Some people don’t get along, some people do… Whatever… I realize the natural reaction is to stick up for yourself and be a man, but I also think ya gotta let it slide every now and then.

You wanna know what I think? I think Sam's a hell of a fabricator and has a lot of knowledge, but I think his ego's gone out of the roof because of all the exposure he's gotten.
And perhaps what Sam said wasn't racist per se, because I'm fairly sure Christian's white, but it certainly was jingoistic.
Ryan if you're serious about giving lifetime bans to racists then maybe you oughta keep an eye on Sam, because his stupidity will trip him up one day.

27. nads, relax. I made the Belgium joke and it was funny. Race has nothing to do with anything.

28. Oops...wrong pic. above...that's just Bob's bike with no Bob. [IMG] Here's the same bike with some scenery...

By the way, for what it's worth, I don't have a problem with Christian. He's entitled to his opinion. I just thought ,maybe, he coulda been a bit more "diplomatic" with how he expressed it. I still think he's wrong about F.R., though [IMG]....

I somehow dont think Christian is pissed over the chocolate and waffle jokes, -we have had these back and forth ribbings on nationality before. I think I had a several months long ping pong match on here with Mud and Steve about Scandinavian slowness and whatnot. Thats all ok as long as we non-americans get to joke about all-american stupidity, and has nothing to do with racism.

But to make Christians opinion worthless because he isnt american and therefor cant truely understand rods, choppers, kustoms and all the rest of the things we hang around here for is a different issue. Christian knows his stuff and to make him a b-hamber rather than discuss chopper-fenders or whatever this was about is just small in my book.

It was'nt racist, it was just stupid and too easy. The HAMB is 99% USA, so you KNOW he's not going to retaliate on that front, he'd get strangled with Ol'Glory.
It just shows that what you know about Belgium, you picked up in the food aisle at WalMart.
I'd like to see you make that kind of joke in a Belgian pub, they'd be calling you waffle-face for weeks.
But what do I know, I'm Canadian, right?
