Got the car in the other day...started and moved under its own power.

Found some rust in the cross rails, sub-rails, rear pan and rear wheel wells. Debating on the sub-rails since they aren't too bad - Your opinions?

This weekend's progress includes cutting out the cross rails and pan and then removing the fenders. Now the trick is to make this thing look like a hot rod instead of a 4x4! And some decent brakes...

Banger yes - ****** will get changed out this winter. Of course, one of the guys from work has a line on a running flattie and ****** that may change my mind.

The car is an older amateur resto - finding some "interesting" repairs and a curious lack of bolts holding the body on...

You dont have to cut out the crossrails. You can drill out the rivets and install the new ones the same way Henry did it. No more 'interesting' repairs

This is very similar to the stage I was at a week or so ago, but I now have my tudor body off the frame. Frame looks good and I jacked it all up today to start trying to remove the rear end from the frame. Man, the handiest tool I have is the cotter pin removal tool. Sure saved some busted knuckes many times and got it cheap at Sears. Any rate, I have not pulled my stock engine/****** from the frame. I worked on cleaning off all the grease on the frame today. Mine is a totally low-buck project, so I am going the POR-15 route on the frame. At least that is my train of thought at the moment. I cut off the heads of the rivits to the outside for the running board supports. I will likely grind the rest up to the frame and then simply tack weld the inside rivit instead of popping it out. It really does not do much and easier than welding up the hole it would leave.

I saw some wheel discs on a Model A coupe this weekend when at the Trader's Village swap in Dallas area. I am now wondering what that would look like on the fenderless highboy-style tudor. May be something to check out later. I am glad to see some others working on tudors. It gives me a lot of ideas. Still, low-buck is the key and I have lots of time to get things done, so no hurry on anything at the moment.

Keep us posted on progress. Looking good.
