Hi all! I'm brand new here and excited about being part of this community. I have a few old trucks that I've really enjoyed working on. Occasionally, I get stumped by one of my projects and it would be helpful to have a fantastic resource like this! My latest acquisition is a 1960 F100 and it has presented me with several steering and suspension problems straight off the bat!
Welcome, Sammy. Enjoy your HAMBtime and post up some pics of your truck when time allows...............Don.
Thanks Don! This is the latest addition to my collection: 1960 F100 with 5.4L engine swap. I never really had a hot rod before, just stock trucks with mild upgrades like power brakes. This new truck is a steep learning curve for me. Here are some pics and the build sheet. The drop axle and lowering leaf springs are confusing me. The leafs all appear to be arched in the opposite direction, the tie rod is practically rubbing the oil pan, the drag link is at a pretty steep angle and the steering is hard, much harder than my other manual steer trucks.
Describe your suspension concerns on the main discussion forum and folks will offer up their thoughts. Sounds like someone flipped the whole spring pack to lower it. Not necessarily the best approach.
