How hard would it be to use the closed Car-Sedan Visor on a P/U (Flatback) I don't really care for the Covered Vinyl (canvas) visor And I have a custom Roof on it anyhow. I don't have a visor of any year to check fit or I wouldn't be asking I need to buy one and want input before i commit It is WAY Chopped and the Header above the Windshield has been removed (Total of 8.5 inches out of the Doors and back 4 inches out of the windshield)
For some reason, I think the sedan and p/u visors would be the same. I owned both and compared them. That was a while ago, I could be wrong.
If you can weld its not a big deal. If its "way chopped" then you may want to cut a series of round holes in the visor after installation so that you can see overhead streetlights.
The fabing part isn't a big deal. But I need a foundation to start with I have actually been thinking about shortening then Skining the 28-9 P/U visor frame with Sheet metal then punching holes in it. But if I can get a Metal Visor that will fit and then I punch holes in that. It will save Me time I am having time managment Issues. My Managment at work wants all my time.
I'm going through the same thing, the 28-29 PU visor looks like a huge duck bill. I grabbed a repop 28-29 visor for a sedan and it is the same width and will work with some minor work (drilling of the mounting holes) but I didn't care for it once I got a good look at the 30-31 style visor. The 30-31 visors have a nice little body line rolled into them and they mount alot cleaner.
If you wish to make one,Here some tricks I have used, a beadroller dose give you nice bead look, but laying under lip(brazz) in steel gas line(thicker bead)or brakeline smaller, add a nice strong lip so she holes up well to time. The Bat Miami Fla.
Hey, I just looked at a 29 sedan that had a 30-31 looking visor that looked like it grew there! had a bead around it like 30-31 but smaller and it was reworked just to make it screw on but was flush on top (not the big ledge like 28-29) Ill try to get you a photo soon if you like. They said it came from "Harry's early ford parts in Oregon.
Please post photos. I'm going to be building a '29 pickup. I finally found some doors! As far as I know, the '28-'29 closed car cowls are all the same.
The 28-29 pick-ups are morre angular than a coupe or sedan where the top meets the visor, so fit at the corner might be an issue. I put a 30 visor on my 29 coupe and they were the same width. I welded it on and filled the roof at the same time, looks good, the edge bead gives it a more finished look and there isn't the big ledge above the visor.
