Yet another week of not working on my bikes, but I did get this Schwinn. A 50's frame and dented fender. Also got this blue frame a few weeks ago along with the 57 Columbia. Don't know if I'll do anything with the blue one, but I have alot of stuff set aside for the Schwinn. It's gonna be pretty wacky with rams horns and a shifter.

Wow, did you ever think about a saltflat bike? I had the idea in the back of my head. But I've been more into eventually trying a 1/4 or 1/8 miler just to take to the local dragstrip. We have a great hill here in Redding, as a teen I kept up with the cars on my cruiser so I was probably doing 55mph. My friend got pulled over the next week on his 18 speed mountain bike. the cop clocked him doing 65mph. The speed limit on that hill is 50mph.

  6. WoW Dana, cool link. That had to be fun.

I picked up this 1952 Deluxe Racer 3 speed for 20 bucks at a swap meet.
Original condition. The pics don't do the candy green paint justice. I was surprised candy paint dated that far back.

  9. What's the ser.#? I have a list of production dates back to the fire in 48. Let me know if the numbers are on the rear fork or the bottom bracket.

I've gotta get my '71 Triumph bike going, just needs a few minor things done to be rideable. I need to get it out of the spare bedroom soon anyway...

I saw the serial number list on www.oldroads.com and found the frame in the top post to be a '59. It's no. is H951133. I'll have to dig the Racer out of storage to get the numbers from it and my other Schwinns too.

I forgot, my Tornado starts with a letter and then 1. The Old roads site shows both '60 and '61 to have the same numbering. Is your list different?

I have a Racer too but it's a way backburner project. I sometimes put 2 old bicycles together a week to sell on craigslist, but I've been busy working on cars latley. Here is a little beater I put together recently to cruise the bars on.

and this is a bike I built for my girlfriend from a frame I found on the side of the road mixed with some spare parts, an exercise bike and some new tires and grips.
