Technical Starter Question

    If you test for continuity from the large solenoid lug to the body of a 12v starter on a typical GM 350, would you have continuity because you're going through the windings?

    Yes, you will see continuity via the windings and across the armature via the brushes. Due to the high current that a starter takes any resistance reading will be very low.

    depends what you mean by "large solenoid lug". The one that connects the solenoid to the motor, yes, you'll have continuity. The one that the battery cable connects to, no, you won't have continuity.
