Well.....here it is. She's rough, ready and rumblin' .I just got back from a 20+ mile trip.So far so good.I stopped for fuel and got some strange looks from the tourists and a big thumbs up from a minitrucker .I am going to take it to work tomorrow......Wish me luck !
Hey that looks pretty good so far. I see some white walls in it's near future! What are lookin' for on the 39 merc? I'm always lookin for some extra parts for my 40. I just scored some door window frames from a 39. Let me know? Have fun too! Ken
rough mercs rule.. got any plans for sat.. i need to get some parts. looks good. looks really good.don't put the chrome rings on it...keep it pissed off...haha tok
You know its going to be a good day when you hear about another Merc on the road. I've been driving a ruff Merc for a while and I've enjoyed every mile. The important thing is keeping her on the road. Happy Trails, Mick
I love your Merc!!! I have a '50 Merc also, but mines the fordor. Can't wait to get her on the road and seeing your old girl made me get my *** in gear a little more. LowSled
Well....I made it to work and back in one piece .When I got home I adjusted the timing and idle. Then I went on a ride to check it out.I was followed by 2 Township Cops for over 6 miles ! I was just waiting for the lights but they never came .when i turned off the main road they went straight.......glad they did not pull me over .Thanks everybody for the kind words.I would have NEVER got it this far with out all of the inspiration I have found here on the H.A.M.B.
kevin that ROCKS.. glad you made it in one piece.. as I recall Your "commute" is a drive in itself.. congrats.. see you soon sawzall
It was always my dream car.I've waited a long time for this one. It's almost done.It has a trans slippin thing going on,so I can't drive it yet.Soon I hope! When it's done,it'll be my daily driver.
I haven't even drivin mine yet!It has no seats or anything else in it.I'll drive it home with a beach chair if I have to!It's goin straight to the paint shop for flames.I'll finish the rest in time.I'd like to see pics of the inside of yours, got any?
I had a trans slipping problem too, then my brother tried to line lock a burnout on Saturday. He got it to smoke but the smoke came from the trans .We swapped it out on Sunday. Do you have any close up pics of your taillights??
Was it easy to put the new gauges in the stock holes? And no I don't have any closer pics of the tailights.
When you stop, and go to take off again,it doesn't move.If you put your foot on the brake, give it some gas,it moves. My buddy thats finishing the loose ends is gonna take it to a trans shop.
Right now the tailights are just taped into place. When I get it home,i'll appoxy the lenses in place. They are custom made,by the guy who owned it before me.
I made the speedo housing out of steel and welded it to the gauge housing.I also had to make the other holes larger.
Are you gonna try to cut your stainless, and put it back on your windows? If you PM me your address,I'll send you some of the stuff I used on mine.It looks awsome, and it's real cheap! It's a rubber bead with chrome on it,like the stuff that is used on toneau covers.I know, it sounds bad,but believe me it looks great.
My friend who's doing the work on mine, has a '51 2dr,'50 2dr,'49 4dr.They all looked the same when he brought them home, black with grey primer. He buys Mercs and chops, rounds the corners, frenches the lights, slants the B-pillers,then sells them.He does the best work for the price. It doesn't even look like the same car!And he's only 30!
