Does anyone know of any bolt in column shift options for my 1959 Galaxie? I have the 2 speed Fordomatic (w/ a 292 Y-block) that had some butchered linkage attatched
When I bought it. I’d like to change it to a column shift without too much fabrication. Are there any Ford bolt ins? Thanks in Advance!

Get a 59 Ford column shift column from a 59 Ford.

  3. '58 to '62 full-size Ford columns are essentially the same (there will be some variation in lengths), although most were fitted with Cruisomatics so finding a Fordomatic version may be a bit tough...

The '57 Ford column will be very close and will have the Fordomatic shift pattern but will lack the wiring connection for the horn. You might be able to swap some parts with your later column to make it work.

  4. Crazy Steve is correct ... but it should be noted that in '61, Full size Fords ( I don't know if '62 was the same or not) could come equipped with either a column that had an integral steering shaft, or a column with an upper shaft and a rag joint coupling to the steering box. The column shift components may (or may not, I don't know) be compatible between both column types, but if looking for parts it would be good to know there are some differences. As always, when sourcing parts, a close comparison and measuring can be important.
