I would just change those wheels. Nice set of steelies or something a little older in style.

sorry this isnt a photo shoped pic of your car like your askin for but i gota agree, ditch the hood and run something like some 5 spoke astro's with thin whites and youd have it locked down

Man, I definately would NOT go flat black w/ flames on this car. It will not fit the era that fits this car. Nor would steelies and wide whites. That car is a '64, and the customization style influence should be more along the lines of late 60's, early 70's:

    - I'd definately leave shiny paint. I think that blue looks great.
    - I'd lose the huge glass looking hood w/ scoop and would prefer stock steel
    - I'd go a nice chrome wheel, perhaps an Astro Supreme or something along those lines
    - I'd definately NOT use wide whites on this car. Go with a nice radial tire w/ a thin pinner white stripe.

You car is looks nice, and with a couple adjustments I think you hit the right style on the head. Don't ruin it by trying to apply 50's style to a 60's car... to me, it doesnt make sense.

Keep up in the loop of where you go with this.

That black car looks funny, your car looks awesome. I would possibly leave the hood and the wheels provided there is something under that hood bad enuogh to warrant the cowl. :)

I agree with notebooms. Lose the hood, cooler wheels, killer looking car.

I think this was what you asked for, I had to do it a bit fast, so sorry for the flames!

I kinda like the wheels on there, they're not ugly tuner dubs or anything. A bit modern, but still nice. Add an extra antenna to the rear and throw that hood in the garbage and you're golded. Mikael did a very nice job on the photoshop but i hate the look. If we were talking about a 54 Chevy maybe you could pull it off.

Replace the hood with a stock one and paint it to match the car. Change out the modern looking wheels for some chrome steelies or some old style 5 spokes. If you want to make it stand out a bit, maybe a flake job, lace job or something like that on the roof.

Your car has decent shiny paint and it's a good looking color. Frankly, painting it flat black would be plain retarded.

I had a long reply about what you should do... then I remembered you mentioned Josh.

Just let him do his thing with it. I don't know him, but from what I've seen of his work, he will steer you in the right direction.

That's a nice looking car but the hood is so gay.

PLEASE don't do it flat black. I would rather see a shitty gloss black job on an SS than any FLATBLACKBECAUSEIWANNABECOOLWHENIHAVEGOODPAINT (TM) type paint job.

skinny whites and supremes or skinny whites and cragars. Hell, even skinny whites and steelies.

I like the photoshop pic but with the stock the hood
I would go with some supremes or wires with skinny whites.
Do what you like and don't worry with what everyone else says.

Chrome reverse wheels with the centers painted dark blue.
    Narrow whitewalls.
    Silver 'flaked roof.
    Stock hood.
    Done!:D

nice ride, i wanted to do an "up in smoke" style when i had my 64, but i ended up selling it.

do what you want with your ride.

What direction do you want to go in with this build? What style? What era? Traditional lowrider? SS muscle car style?

Do some research. Look at some pics(64's are everywhere). They don't need much to look awesome, but don't mix styles on an impala. You'll end up with a bastard of a car that sort of just misses the mark on all different levels.

I say swap out that cowl hood for the stock hood. Lose the rims you've got. Supremes would look killer, but contrary to popular belief, they aren't the only option. Some Cragars or some Rockets with standard 7/8" or 1" whites would be fucking ace. The good thing about Cragars is that they look great with a whitewall as a lowrider wheel(ie. road apple's poncho), or with big blackwall tires as more of a street performance(musclecar) wheel. Ditch the whole flame/graphics thing. Maybe go 2 tone top and bottom or stay 1 color.

Here are a couple examples of 2 very different styles of Impala. Both work for their own reasons, but they stayed true to one style.
