Early quick change

Here I have a brand new model a quick change to suit banger driveline and a early quick change of unknown make. Curious to hear people’s opinions and thoughts as to what they think it could be to suit. My dad purchased it at a speedway swap meet approximately 15 years ago.. did not come with input shafts or gear set but did come with live axle with crown wheel attached. Cheers in advance a

It has a very Halibrandy look, but I've never seen a Halibrand without the name on it. There are other brands with similar ribs to Halibrand, like Warren, but that doesn't look like a Warren I own.

 

I'm fairly certain that it is not a Halibrand.

Here are some things I think I see in your pictures: The top and bottom 'reinforcing ribs' appear to be welded on. The rear cover isn't drilled for bolts and I'm guessing that it isn't bored for bearings either. The spacer thingy seems a little odd to me. The center section appears to be deep enough for 1" thick gears. The extra piece might be a casting that was made for converting a banjo to a QC. Possibly an extension to allow a second change gear set for a 2 speed Quickchange.
The rear cover at the very bottom of the second picture looks like a Halibrand Champ piece. It should have 3 1/2" center distance on the bearing pockets. It wouldn't fit or have anything to do with the other stuff.

I don't have an answer for you as to who made it. But it looks similar to one I've seen before. ACRO?

I have a list if 72 Quickchange manufacturers, some with pictures. If I get closer I'll let you know.

Excellent Thankyou mate. Good to hear some feedback. No markings, no numbers. Correct the holes are not drilled and has not been machined for bearings, I did suggest to dad the extension piece may be to convert a banjo to QC. The finned cover at the bottom is a halibrand 301 according to its markings

I looked through my photos of unusual QCs. (The organized ones) Didn't find anything that appears to be from the same maker. I'll keep looking.

Some more pictures of different views might give some more clues. Does the cover appear to fit both the center section and the odd piece? Is the bolt pattern for the side plates the same on this one as the new one you have? The Model A and V-8 units used slightly different bolt patterns.
