No work on the bathroom this week. Monday I had a minor operation that will put me out of action for a month or so. But yesterday I did get a couple of things done on the diecast roadsters. But nothing worth photographing. I do have to have the '34 finished for the NNL event on the west coast here next month, so I hope to get that really happening in the next couple of weeks.
So it's a number of shots of a small diorama I did a number of years ago. Not many people have seen this! It's not much but it is something new for you guys to see, a lot of scratch building. Geoff aka whodaky

I like the VW - but I've got a soft spot for the lil' bustle-bombs.

Yeah - it WAS a 2CV... I'm working on a more put-together version of this one:

I put the last part on this one about an hour ago. It's a Lindberg '53 Ford kit...

and this one is next up on the bench. The old AMT 36 5W, shown here in mock-up after the roof chop.

Hey Doc... are those R/C airplane wheels on your salt bug? I've been looking for some wheels & tires for an LSR project. Those look just right!

Dang, that 53 is cool!! How did you do the rear portion of the roof?

Just curious....why did you decide not to shave the door handles?

Thanks Steve, glad you like it.

The rear of the roof is really just a flat piece of sheet styrene with a 49 ford backlight traced and cut into it. A bit of putty, some sanding, and hey-presto! No more wrap around rear glass.

I left the door handles on for a little bit more "jewelry" on the side after I got rid of the side trim.

Not much? :) I am really crazy about those dioramas! I will try to make one for my cars this summer!!

I painted and put together this 41 Ford woody from AMT yesterday. It still needs some finishing, and I have to repaint the roof. I think I´m using the flathead V8, the quickchange rearaxle and the plated dropped frontaxle on a 29´ Ford roadster. I will try the challenge of sectioning that roadster, hope it works out well! :)

Hey thanks Zed, mikaelmtb and irish27T. It is an AMT 1/25 scale that was reissued in 97. I started it and was not happy with it and put it back in the box. All it really needed was a the final assembly. It is all built out of the box (box stock).

I really like everyone elses builds too. Killer stuff this week. Keep build em guys!

The VW is a 1/32 scale Airfix kit, the fronts are out of box and the rears were made larger by rolling a strip of sheet styrene around the tyre to build it up, filled the side walls and turned it in my dremel. Kinda simple and works well in that small scale.
    Doc.

  17. That thing actually looks pretty cool........backwards.
Would love to see it the other way 'round with some glass where the roof comes to a point.

Did you make those rear windows or are they from a 40 coupe?
That is one of the best Kustoms I have ever seen.
    Doc.
