Hello,

Filming at Lions Dragstrip showed me that there were other guys/girls that could build their own creations to compete against others. We were in the stock cl*** at first with my brother’s 58 Impala. But, then we got involved in the Gas Coupe and Sedan Cl*** with our 1940 Willys Coupe 671 SBC build.

My brother wanted me to film all cl***es and pick out which ones were our favorites. I could have filmed every single race car at Lions Dragstrip. I found out that developing the 16mm color Kodak film got a little expensive, so we figured out a way to get it done at no cost. It was a new job for me…a film editor of my dad’s movies for presentations. That way, the drag racing films were part of his business/family/neighborhood film reels, I just had to edit out my portion of films. I also had to create a film out of the rest of my dad’s filming and make some sense of it.

There were a lot of sports cars in several cl***es from to top modified sports cars down to the “pop the hubcap and race” stock cl*** cars. Some of the cl***es got so big that they began to run the eliminations similar to our stock car cl***es, at 4 cars across the width of the Dragstrip. Going down the track with 3 other cars was a little hectic, but there was plenty of room.

This red, Devin fibergl*** bodied sports car was our favorite in the smaller modified cl***es. The car was pretty fast and it looked very sleek.

Then, we began to read about the Devin body sports car owned by Dean Moon. We looked at several magazines and with the fine build of just about anything “Moon” it was definitely a car to see. As luck would have it, we did not see Moon’s Devin body sports car in all its fine glory at Lions.

"The Devin bodied sports car "Moonbeam", owned by Dean Moon, the founder of Moon Speed Equipment. Devin bodies were produced by Bill Devin, from SoCal, between 1955 through 1964. They were primarily replacement body kits, suitable for mounting on various stock ch***is. At one time (1957), Devin built complete sports cars for a company located in Ireland."

"These were powered by small block Corvette engines and called Devin Super Sports (or S/S) or sometimes called "Super Shillelagh" (pronounced shi-lay-lee). Dean Moon's car was a built over a square-tube frame and powered by a Potvin crank driven supercharged Chevy small block, and designed to be compe***ive in the A/MSP drag cl*** and also for Dry Lakes and Salt Flats compe***ion."

Kind of a Newbie......3rd post since you joined...you have a lot of catching up to do...

While your work is exemplary the tire wheel combination is absolutely Off Topic...a nice set of ww's with Cadillac Caps or even bw's with same caps or vintage Buick wires would be more applicable here...This while an Art show the Hamb rules and guidelines have always applied.

We All must keep this in mind when we are creating our masterpieces...and we are All at the mercy of the Board and Membership when it comes to discretion...and things do get deleted...Not a threat just saying...Some of the membership choose to push the boundaries and while that isn't me they may find themselves at a moderators discretion time to time and that is not a good place to be.
