Are all the ball portions of the different pitman arms the same size through the years? I'm looking to convert a drag link using the ball side from the arm and welding it to a tie rod for the drop steering arm. Need to buy a usable drag link.

I have a bolt in ball stud from a 48 F1 you can have if I can find it , try not to weld on steering parts . PM me with an email address .

I think I worded that wrong. I need a drag link that I can cut to fit over the ball on the pitman that I have. I was curious if all them were the same size through the years? What drag links will fit a F1 pitman arm with the ball?

If you do it as in the video , God couldn’t have made it better. I think the ball stud I have would match the taper of the steering arm in you want a ball stud both ends .

Maybe it is just me; but it would look better if all the rod ends were the same.

If you like the ball style rod ends; use a shortened A or '32-'34 tie rod along with your F-1 pitman arm and a tapered ball stud as mentioned above in your steering arm and use an A or '32-'34 tie rod so all four ends are ball style.

Or get a '35-'48 pitman arm and shorten a '35-'56 tie rod to make a drag link and use a '35-'56 tie rod so all four ends are regular tie rod ends. This would probably be the easiest to achieve.

Rich - Yeah actually I wouldn't mind the idea of having the ball on the steering hoop as well.
Couldn't I just weld on of the replacement balls onto a hoop style steering arm or do they sell them somewhere?

@baspinall yes, the ball size is the same, thankfully.

Those 1932-34 bolt-in ball studs are great. I used one as a donor for my pitman arm I'm running on my F1 box in my A and another I'm using on my aftermarket steering hoop.

Mine needed to be cut/welded to clear my hairpins but if you don't have the need, it will bolt in.
