I had an N.O.S. Shelby Performance 351K-6250H camshaft lifters and springs still in the box. I was wondering if anyone would know thebvalue of this camshaft kit. Later I was thinking if selling and didn’t want to overshoot the price, and set something fair. Thanks
Thanks for the info. So I take it there is no collector or sentimental value for 60’s Shelby products.
It may be of some value , but there are many different , Performance grinds and designs to choose from for it to bring top $$$ . Can you look and listen to a running engine and determine if it has a factory performance or aftermarket cam in it ? I can’t , so it really isn’t worth anymore to me that I can purchase a new one for .
The way I see it is camshaft technology has come along ways in 50+ years so why would you want to use a dated cam and be down on power, unless of coarse it's purely for nostalgic reasons.
Value will probably be the highest with a well-to-do Shelby or Ford enthusiast /collector....if you've got the original boxes/packaging. They will want it for static display in their man cave/hobby shop/garage more than they will for the parts inside the package.
It'll be worth something, but not a ton. I'd be willing to bet that's nothing more than a re-boxed Ford 'Muscle Parts' cam. Shelby was all but out of the car business at the point when that cam was marketed; the AC Cobra was dead, a victim of safety standards. The GT40 program was over, and the GT350 and 500 Mustangs were being built by Ford, not Shelby. You could buy the 'Shelby' speed parts at any Ford dealer, and the number even resembles a Ford part number; 6250 is Ford's 'basic' camshaft part number. But at this point, it was mostly a licensing deal for Shelby, he wasn't actually making stuff anymore. Some of his intakes and valve covers from this period are worth good money these days, primarily because of their rarity; not many were sold.
I’m going to Hawaii....I’m going to Hawaii.....reads the post....I’m not going to Hawaii.. I’ve had things I thought were valuable...I’ve got a cool Dan Gurney “ engine tuner” in the box..I payed a good dime for it....I probably payed top value..not everything old is valuable...lesson learned
You would have change your 351 to a 289-302 firing order. Not a big deal. Oops, maybe not, must be a 351 specific cam.
