    Hi All
Glad to be a new member, I find myself on this site regularly researching and learning from all.Decided to join......Just bought a 63 NovA SS Convertible. ACC Code Z, Has a 194 inline six, great running car,fun to drive. I believe the car came from IOWA. Cream Colored /Saddle Tan Interior, All Stock.

Trying to decode an engine casting number that insists that the engine is a 292. However the side plates are 4", the motor mounts are directly across from one another. The engine serial (HF) indicates 194/Power-glide. Searching the internet I have come across other Chevy II owners with this same casting number and nothing but 292 answers from the web?

    Engine Casting: 3788378
    CON3 K91
    Engine Serial: FII28HF

Thanks for any help in this puzzle.

292's were truck only. They will also have a water pump byp*** hose like a Big Block Chevy V-8 (Some L-79 and other fuelie 327's had them as well). The 194/230/250 will not. That was always the way I could tell them apart at quick glance when looking at trucks in the wrecking yard.

Thanks for the reply Paint-Rep, No by p*** on this one, Good information on the 292 cid's. The engine code 3788378 comes up 292 on every site I go to. I have come across other owners who have the same code and are baffled as well. Someone take a look and see what you come up with.
    Thanks Again
