I just seen this on a Facebook page and it looked intersting. Does anybody remember the show or anything about the car?
The Lloyd Thaxton Show ran '61 to'68 and was hosted by Los Angeles dj Lloyd Thaxton. It was a teenage dance show that featured guest appearances of music performers of the day lip synching their latest releases. I remember seeing Johnny Rivers,Ian Whitcomb,Nino Tempo and April Stevens among others on the show. It was kind of an American Bandstand copy but had other features such as lip synch contests. Lloyd himself often lip synched to records as part of his schtick. The show was eventually nationally syndicated so it appeared on many different stations all over the country unlike Bandstand which was a network show. Lloyd went on to become a television producer. I used to watch Lloyd on WPIX 11 New York. As for the roadster ,I know nothing other than what we can see in the pic. I don't recognize it as a particularly well known car.
IIRC, Lloyd was a DJ for Boss Radio 93-KHJ Los Angeles. I watched the show on black and white TV. There was several shows that featured Rock and Roll bands of mid-1960's. Lots of lip-sinc singing and dancing. I was about 10-11 years old when these shows we're popular in Los Angeles.
I dug watching Lloyd Thaxton. He had a great sense of humor. It had the look of a low rent show, kind of bare bones, but he had good guests and he certainly showed enthusiasm.
Yes, sir! Lloyd Thaxton was part of my youth along with American Bandstand, Shindig (remember Bobby Sherman?) and a few others. I remember seeing a story about the roadster, but don't recall the details. I do believe it was on here, so someone may fill in the blanks.
I remember my older sisters taking control of the tv to watch the show. It was on afternoons after school, if I remember correctly. My brothers and I were too young and weren't interested in watching teenager dance show. But I recall then doing skits, besides dancing.
loved that show. he later went into production and directing. i remember him having the yardbirds as guests, and when he attempted to interview jeff beck, beck just scowled at him!
