X'ing a model a frame

    That's all well and good, but something that small has a very limited footprint to transfer load to the mating material (frame), it looks like absolute ****, and welding forged steel properly isn't as easy as throwing some MIG wire at it...plus it looks like ****...and it also looks really ****ty...

    Edit: Furthermore, old mates single shear split rear radius rods is a disaster waiting to happen..
     
  3. Here's mine on my 29 roadster. JW Rod Garage perimeter frame to start and all mine after that. About $50.00 worth of steel tubing. I can jack the car on one corner and open and close the doors with one finger, and it's a roadster.
    To the builder of the frame with the axles cut and welded in for the crossmember, I believe the replies are trying to help you. You should consider those replies as a concern for your safety ( and others ) and not get all defensive over something so indefensible. Maybe time to re-think.

    What about an X member from a 48 Ford? Can it be cut to fit a Model A?
