thank you for reading this. I am haveing a igintion problem. I am receiving spark in the distubutor, but the spark is not making it to the plug. I was told by Kragens that the cap is still good but know unsure what to beleive
We need more info. Is this a driver that quit, or a newly installed motor or a yard monument being resurrected? The spark at the distributor is from the coil wire? The center wire.. Does the distributor turn? Is the rotor installed correctly or at all? Points adjusted? Are you familiar with working on cars? If youre not, thats OK, but all the info you can give will help us help you.
There's no law that says you can't have two of everything. For older cars, you need spares in the trunk anyway. Go get a new cap, rotor, points, condensor, plug wires, spark plugs, and a coil. Replace the stuff one at a time until the problem is solved. Having spark is not good enough. You need spark that is strong, and not weak. Go to a good parts store, and buy it new. I can't believe the number of people who try to troubleshoot problems for weeks with junk they have laying around, instead of going out and buying new, and solving the problem in five minutes.
