Jim Hurtubise was always hands-on with his race cars. Here he's focused on his famed, Chevy-powered #56 sprint car, at Allentown, PA. A lot of detail in this busy pit area shot from the 1960s. Leroy Nuemayer and Don Shepherd often helped him with the car. At the end of 1960 season, Shepherd went to Ascot with Herk, and Herk set a new track record and won the feature. This was the first USAC race ever ran at Ascot.
